Game - for sale

For sale: Jurassic Park (Data East, 1993) 48170

Added: 2016-06-01 04:53:06 UTC • Ended: June 24th, 2016
Condition: HUO - Documented (Home Used Only)

Price

$ 3,000

For sale is an extremely nice example of Data East Jurassic Park pinball. I believe this game was home use only, however have no documentation or proof of that. This is a Chris Travis game. It's extremely clean and has no characteristics of being routed or on location anywhere. All LED's, newer rubbers, no mylar on the play field (the play field is so clean, people have asked if it was a NOS clear coated play field), cliffy protectors installed, under cab LED lights. The play field looks new and nothing is warped, flaking or has any damage. All plastic ramps are in tact and have no cracks or weird discoloring. The exterior of the cab has bright, vibrant colors and minimal wear or scratches. Mechanically speaking, everything works as it should. Solenoids are strong, T-rex functions perfectly, raptor kick out shoots hard, Pop bumpers work great and Shaker motor rumbles like crazy. I've seen a lot of Jurassic Park pins and this one is probably the cleanest, nicest one I've ever seen. In the pics, the side rails are yellow and black caution tape style. If you do not like this, no worries. That's just a sticker and can be peeled off to the factory color black rails, underneath. Also comes with Topper.

Now, on to what needs attention:
*The lighting on the slingshots and return lanes is currently not illuminated. I haven't looked into it too deep, but I'm assuming it's probably an easy fix. May be a component on the board that runs the GI, may be a bad ground or wire. I don't know. Playability is not compromised.
*One of the bolts in one of the legs does not thread in properly. I have a new leg bolt plate, but I haven't got around to installing it.
*The lock for the back glass was drilled out at some point before I owned the machine. I never replaced this.

Overall, this is one heck of a machine and would look amazing in any game room or pin collection.

Price is $3000.

Located in Plymouth, MI. If you are interested, come out and take a look.

Bump played this one it's a great game honest seller deal with confidence.

where is the other Pterodactyl? Should be 2 of them on the right side. Arn't those mode start LED's blinding? Where they are and aimed at the player, i'd think you couldn't see anything when they light.

#4 7 years ago

I don't know where the other Pterodactyl is. I bought the machine with only the one on there. As a matter of fact, I never even noticed that they came with two of them. Good observation. As far as the LED's at the mode start, they actually don't blind people at all. By looking at them in the pics, it looks like it would, but when you play, there is absolutely no trouble at all with any kind of blinding effect.

CPU version 5.01? You're missing out on all the 6.00 fun!

Only reason I know about the 2 Pterodactyl's is because i've had 3 different JP's and I spent a lot of time finding a better spot for that second one, so he bounces more for a little more action.

The LED's looked like the super brights I get from pinball life. Those things can be blinding if you have them by slings, and you move to the side the wrong way.

#7 7 years ago

I've never changed the software. I guess I could have..I know enough people with eprom burners and such. Just never got around to doing so. And yeah, its funny. When I first got the machine, I thought that those LEDs were going to be crazy. Never changed them because they work just fine. LOL

#8 7 years ago

I keep wanting to get this game cause my 5 year old is very into dinosaurs... the art work is really killing it for me though. Reminds me too much of LAH which did not last long in my small collection.

#9 7 years ago

you might want to change the software tho, because one of the revisions, changes how Trex works, so he doesn't burn up his gearbox and motor. Old revisions would strip it out. Might need it for the safety of the game. Unsure what revision it was that did this tho.

You can find a code update here. www.pinballcode.com. Checkout the Guide, it details all the updates.

I like the art. Yeah, some of the people look off, but I look at it as an artists interpretation of who he was trying to create. The dinos look great and I love the busy layout of the playfield art. I guess I look at it as this: Its an actual licenced Jurassic Park item and the fact that some of the art is a bit wacky, makes it cool to me. Not saying I would have liked to see better art, however, whats on it now is better than a bunch of screen shot photos, in my opinion.

Besides that, when you play the game, its totally a Jurassic Park experience. All the sounds, lights and themes. Im a huge JP fan (So much that I have JP tattoos) and I totally approve this game. Its also a pretty good player machine, pinball fan side. Probably best Data East game made.

Here are my tattoos. I just loaded them all to save the question, "what else do you have?". The Aliens one with Ripley is on the back side of my arm.

Jurassic Park has got to go. Love the game, but I have other things on my mind. And, a Ghostbusters pin is probably tops on my list of machines to get, but cant afford one right now. Some day.

I'm interested in this game but am questioning the validity of HUO. For example, the shooter lane is pretty chewed up for a home use game:
Screen_Shot_2016-06-03_at_11.12.28_AM_(resized).pngScreen_Shot_2016-06-03_at_11.12.28_AM_(resized).png

Secondly, while I love it that it comes with Cliffys installed, a closer inspection of them seems to indicate that there's some wood chewed up underneath them. If you look at the yellow key lines, it appears to be worn:
Screen_Shot_2016-06-03_at_11.11.29_AM_(resized).pngScreen_Shot_2016-06-03_at_11.11.29_AM_(resized).png

Normally, I wouldn't care but when the price is at a premium and the description details how nice the pf is, I have to ask questions. Seller, could you comment?

#26 7 years ago

I'm not in front of the game right now, but I definitely will look closer at that stuff. The shooter lane does have a tiny bit of wear. That's the only place I noticed any wear which is why I posted a pic of it. As far as the cliffy area you pointed out, thats something I have never noticed. Nice eye. When I bought the game, the cliffy's were already installed on it and I've never taken them off. I'll have to check that more closely. The reason why I suspected the game was HUO, is because the darn thing is so clean. It's an original play field from what I'm told and what I can tell and despite what you posted, it is super super clean and looks new. The outside cab has a few nicks on it, but nothing bad at all and the colors on the machine are deep and look great. The other reason I thought it was HUO, other than it looking so clean and unmolested, is because many people who are pinheads that have seen the machine also came to the conclusion that it was HUO. Of course, everyone has their own opinion and there is no proof that it was a HUO game, but I do honestly believe that this was.

Also, I'd like to point out, if anyone wanted to purchase this machine, before you make a journey out to look at it, I'd like to talk on the phone first and go over every single thing about this. Send more detailed photos and just make sure everything is disclosed first. I'd hate to have someone drive out and see something like the wear under the cliffy that I didn't notice and be mad. We've all been screwed over and I can assure you that I'm not trying to pull wool over anyones head. I feel kind of embarrassed that I didn't notice the cliffy wear and I don't want anyone thinking I'm some schister.

#27 7 years ago

If anyone wanted to shoot me a text, then call me, I'd be happy to talk to you about the machine. (734)560-0310. My name is Kyle

#28 7 years ago

I've played this game a few times and while it is not cq it is in my opinion much better than any player machine I've seen. Huo or not the next owner will be very happy with the quality of this machine.

#29 7 years ago

You know what? I know my machine is bad ass. Probably in the top 10% of cleanest JPs out there. I've been all worked up trying to sell this, but I just dont give a shit anymore. I know what Ive got and it IS a premium machine and baised on what Ive personally seen other JPs sell for locally, I know this is a 3k table. Everyone that sees it thinks so too. Im 100% confident its a HUO machine and just because the shooter lane has some wear, doesn't mean squat. Every shooter lane Ive ever seen has some sort of wear. The machine is a played machine and its 23 year old. No shit it has some wear in the shooter lane. The lane that the ball fires from every single game. That does not mean it wasnt HUO. Thats like seeing a car for sale that has some miles on it and saying "eh, I dont know if that car was privately owned. It has milage on it, so it must have been a fleet vehicle."

Bottom line is this. I know what I have and its fucking beautiful. I dont really give a shit what someone thinks they know about my game. I know what I have and if you dont want it, I dont give a fuck. Dont buy it. For the past week, Ive been getting emails from people (craigslist folk) calling me out and talking serious shit. All I'm trying to do is sell this thing, not trying to hide anything and all Ive been getting is shit for it from every angle.

So whatever. Its a clean as fuck Jurassic Park and its for sale.

#30 7 years ago

Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck.

Also, your cargument is pretty bad and a false analogy.

"I have a car for sale. It's only been driven around my private driveway and never on a public road or highway" would be a more apt comparison.

#31 7 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I donno. I think it's pretty good. A privately owned vehicle gets driven around and used. A fleet vehicle gets driven around and used, except a lot more and by people who don't give a damn about it. A HUO pin gets played and a route pin gets played a lot more and by people who don't give a damn about it.

#32 7 years ago

Op, not sure where the hate is coming from in the past couple of responses. I've been following this thread since it started and no post that I have read is of a bashing nature that I can tell. A couple of questions about the pin, but none appear to be trolls or price police that I can tell. Can't speak for what you are experiencing on Craiglist, but maybe this frustration is being vented to wrong audience? Anyway, GLWS.

No, it's a false Analogy.

An HUO game is never in a public place. It spends it's life being operated on private property.

An HUO car would never have it's wheels touch a public road. It
Would spend it's life driving around only on private property.

I have no idea where this "fleet vehicle" nonsense comes from but that's a bad analogy anyway you look at it. There's no such thing as a "fleet pinball" you can't go to Avis and rent one. A "privately owned car" may well have as much mileage on it as a "fleet vehicle" and may well have similar wear. An HUO pinball machine will never have nearly the same amount of use as a publicly used pinball machine. A privately owned car is subject to the same weather, salt
Trucks, potholes, and possible damage by passer by and other drivers as a "fleet vehicle." It's just a terrible analogy that does not hold up.

People frequently lose control of their Carguments and this a clear case of cargument abuse. And the above poster is correct - there really was no reason for you to unleash your torrent of fucks and bad analogies nobody is attacking you. Make claims of HUO and people will have questions it's always gonna happen.

You guys are right. Lost my cool that day. I apologize. Just got fed up with a bunch of people (not specifically here) trying to rip me apart. I was getting emails from obvious pinball guys on Craigslist calling me very explicit names and telling me how much of an idiot I was out of nowhere. I turned around and vented it on here, hoping one of them would see it and say something.

As far as under the cliffy goes, in the pic, what you are seeing is a piece of paper that is sandwiched in between the cliffy and playfield. Im assuming the last guy who had it put that there to prevent the cliffy from rubbing the playfield. As for the shooter lane wear, I looked at it and its really not that bad.

#36 7 years ago

Bump. Looks really nice. GLWS!

Hey Bear, I don't comment much on here but my wife Brideofpinhead follows PS daily. She told me about this thread a few days ago and finally got a minute to look at it. I agree CL responses are rude and offers are insulting. "What's your bottom dollar Eric" With all do respect to my other PS family there are that can be "asses as well." I think( and people please tell me if I'm wrong) prices since the market got shaky have gone up.

What We love about pins and this site is there are great people! Kelly and I have a collection we love and "pinball is pinball" and have made many fixes and all with the guidance of Pinside."

We had a JP but sold it last Summer to a great young guy in Indy. We also sold our RS yesturday which was on the site for awhile and also got scrutinized many times. Most respectful folks and others that asked questions I never thought about. In the end it sold and our buyer was stoked..which is the best part of a sale! GLWS.
