What he’s asking for it. Whiners.

...All I know, MINE is PAID IN FULL ... & #222 should be arriving shortly .... YCKTH!!!!

Quoted from o-din:

This whole hobby is a pyramid scheme.

I understand the sarcasm, even the slight bitterness. Economic speculation has been around in the concept of capitalism since the Renaissance.

However, not all collectors subscribe to this methodology, as you well know. Some are outright rebeling today, and refuse to participate at all. This does not mean assistance is not provided.

PinSide is not the exclusive effective source of machines supposedly unavailable.

Keep flipping

I would think the new first owner will be glad it shipped directly from Stern to them as apposed to OP taking posession and than selling it NIB and possibly reshipping if not local.

Does the warranty transfer to the new first owner?

I think some of it's coming from the headache I'm getting from reading all of it and how it's been nurtured and controlled here. It's turned into a vicious cycle that nobody's winning. Time to break free for a while.

#57 5 years ago

Let’s recall how Stern reacted to the exorbitant prices being asked for Metallica LE games.
Riiiiiiiight. They raised prices thereafter to cut out the middlemen.
Have at er! Let’s see if we can get them to do it again!

I don’t begrudge OP for a one-off, but the posters on here saying “who cares?”... we all care.

#58 5 years ago

Still $3K cheaper than the one Voldemort is selling on eBay.

Bundle it with a Fix-it Felix arcade cabinet and you get free shipping and a 1 hour guest spot on the podcast!

Quoted from Aurich:

I've never heard of a two person pyramid scheme.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Not sure what you mean by a pyramid scheme. He’s simply reselling a game at a higher price than he paid. Nothing wrong with it and what everybody else does here all the time.

My apologies, I meant

Ponzi scheme

noun
-a form of fraud in which belief in the success of a nonexistent enterprise is fostered by the payment of quick returns to the first investors from money invested by later investors.

Pinball "presales" combined with a company never producing or delivering a game worth playing is becoming a common practice in the pinball world. Stern presales that are sold before the game is delivered seems risky to me but have at it. If the inserts are ghosting and the cabinet is separating you would never know that because you did not open the game.

Additionally, Stern may not uphold the warranty on a secondary sale.

No one really cares so I don't know why people are in a tizzy. Same day, different pile of bs.

NOTHING ever said in a FS thread has ever influenced ANYONE ever buying anything-EVER. People get scammed, dooped, and buy games for whatever they want in threads more heated than this one all the time. People screaming the "watch out for that seller" all fall by the wayside because there is a new game out and I need it for who cares how much because it's my dream theme. blah-blah

People say their opinion in a FS thread... If the seller cared what was said, they would not have clicked that little checkbox that says "Start a topic in the Marketplace forum on Pinside". You don't have to start a discussion to list a game for sale on Pinside. This guy did so we are discussing. The seller does not own the thread nor does he control what happens in it. There is no need to defend any entity at all here.

I would pay 20k for it but only if you could deliver it to me by noon. I am planning a pizza party and want some pinball there.

Capitalism Conundrum fer sure! Anybody like concert ticket scalpers/agencies.......? How about betting on pork belly futures..? Real estate flipping..? All are fine examples of capitalism, that benefit few or one, while passing the increase cost of the commodity to folks often less able to pay(or more impacted by the increase.) Certainly not all are guaranteed "for profit" winners and it comes with some risk, but working with an imbalanced supply/demand or a primary need commodity(food, energy, housing ..health care?) can make it appear morally suspect. I'm guilty of participating in various forms(legitimate full disclosure sales) but still wish we could have our cake and eat it too. No, not socialism but something more refined, still rewarding hard work, incentive and creativity.

Gag.....,that was a bit much for morning, blame it on the damn coffee!.. Ooh......, gotta go.

Trying to flip a game you don't own before it's even revealed is definitely pinball in 2018

That's so kaneda....

Game is SOLD for $11,500.

Sold it through different channels outside of pinside. I listed on here for $10,000, just to make a few hundred for my time and effort to get this game to someone.

Since, it is now sold, I would like to respond to the extreme negativity in this thread. To everyone that down voted me and bashed me, I have a few simple questions for you:

1 - How many of you will sell me your Tron LE for what you paid the distributor?
2 - How many of you will sell me your Metallica LE for what you paid the distributor?
3 - How many of you will sell me your AC/DC BIB LE for what you paid your distributor?
4 - How many of you will purchase my Transformers LE for what I paid my distributor?
5 - How many of you will purchase my Game of Thrones LE for what I paid my distributor?
6 - How many of you will purchase my Ghostbusters LE for what I paid my distributor?
7 - How many of you will purchase my Star Wars LE for what I paid my distributor?

I'm guessing the answer to all 7 questions is none.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...this is why a lot of people like me, are tired just of the losers on pinside, who think, for some strange reason, that they have the moral high ground.

LE is $8999, plus if he is paying tax on it. The mark up is only around $500'ish...

You missed the qualifier "Before you even took ownership of the game" and "When you signed up to buy, did you buy to keep or flip?"

There is a difference between selling your used stuff for a profit... and making yourself into an authorized reseller. The second leads to artificial scarcity and price inflation... the former is a reflection of supply and demand.

Completely agree and congrats on the sale. I didn’t think I was going to get an LE and was in the “open” market. I would have bought this. Quit your whining people.

There are a number of amateur economists on Pinside offering novel pricing theories. Reality often fails to conform to their philosophies and must therefore be set aside.

Congrats on the sale. I don’t see a problem with you turning a profit on it, the buyer knows what they’re getting and is satisfied with the price which is all that matters.
