I remembered this ww from about 6 months ago... shame about that cab damage... otherwise a nice example of this awesome pin

Lol, thanks, random pic removed...

This looks more like "Nearly Imamaculate" to me! - bump

#8 5 years ago

Alright. Who's the clumsy ox who f'd up that cab?!

#9 5 years ago

Were those decals applied? Or is the cab original?

You mentioned "paint", but the scratch looks like it's a decal.

#10 5 years ago

How many plays in the last 12 years?

How can the decals be clearcoated? Looks like decals to me.

#13 5 years ago

You had me at "Imamaculate Whirlwind".

You lost me when I saw the side of the cabinet and factored in the shipping, the cost of a set of side art and the aggravation of installing the side art at that price.

too high with the cabinet damage. for that price should be close to HEP.

Where's the pic of the inside of the cab?

#17 5 years ago

I’d like to see a pic of the machine sitting out in the road to be truly imamaculate

Removed post due to my ignorance.

Where's the alien pics?

Pretty sure a HEP WW would be higher.

WW with PF wear and rough cabinets are selling close to 3.

Read the description:

"New clearcoated playfield, new plastics, new topper, and new fan. The cabinet was clearcoated since the original paint was in great shape. The only major imperfection is a spot on the cabinet side shown in the pictures."

So were there decals installed? Or is the seller saying the cab has original paint as it was clearcoated? The pic looks like a rip in decals.

It isn't clear.

It isn't clear.

Exactly.

#23 5 years ago

This is the original painted cabinet which was clear coated as stated in the ad. Here's the original ad from calipinball whom I bought the machine from:

https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/archive/61856

It wouldn't make much sense to lie in an ad since the truth would quickly come out in the end. I suppose some may try that tactic since pinside in general doesn't have enough drama to keep us interested most days, but it's not my style.

#24 5 years ago

SO ARE THERE DECALS OR NOT???

YOUR PICTURE LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE DECALS.

#25 5 years ago

I think what he's saying is are they decals?

#26 5 years ago

Hi quick question aboot your ad, are these decals? Thanks

#27 5 years ago

per the link the OP sent "cabinet is original and in such excellent shape it was clearcoated same time as playfield, cabinet feels smooth like glass"

Quoted from fisherdaman:

Look at his pictures. There is what looks like a rip in a cab decal.

Again, I ask: DECALS or NO DECALS?

OP? Former owner? Mickey Mouse? Trump? Anyone?

Its a original screen printed cab that has been clearcoated...

With a huge rip in the decal.

All makes sense now.

#31 5 years ago

I'd never notice that damage in a lineup, it's in a pretty hidden spot if you have more than one machine.

ps: does this have decals?

#32 5 years ago
Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

OP: please see the quote above.

#33 5 years ago

I kind of feel it would be worth more with decals than original art cabinet because then the damaged area could be easily replaced with a new decal after prepping the damaged side. With original art and damage, the whole thing needs to be decaled or the damage needs to be touched up by an artist.

Essentially the b/w screen printed cabs are like decals... just a different process and are slightly more durable than the decals stern and other companies use now.

I hear ya D, but the pic looks like decals. Just a bit unclear.

This is super nice regardless.

BigD is correct - they stenciled onto a vinyl substrate during that time. See pic of my Funhouse being restored:

So your saying it’s worth $2500? I have seen way worse sell for more.

Is there any tote related wear/damage?

#43 5 years ago

If you want your for sale ad to be viewed by everyone on pinside just put imamaculate in the description.

#44 5 years ago

Thanks Damonator, I learned something. I'd gone out to the game room to look closer and started to wonder if I was mistaken when I bought it, but screened on a vinyl substrate makes perfect sense.

#45 5 years ago

Why don't you ask the former owner if he applied decals?

My old ww I'm pretty sure didn't have any vinyl or decals. It was screenprint right onto the cab.

#46 5 years ago

The former owner isn't on pinside anymore and has clearly stated it was original paint. Are you interested in purchasing the game Blackbeard?

#47 5 years ago

It is a really nice looking Whirlwind, quite imamaculate!
