Game - for sale

FS/FT Jurassic Park Pinball w/ Topper and Mods

Added: 2015-09-26 00:28:20 UTC • Ended: October 13th, 2015
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 2,300

Here's a quick rundown:

- Playfield is in great shape.
- Has cliffy hole protectors.
- Has the topper that goes for around $200 on eBay.
- Previous owner fully shopped the game back in January.
- Previous owner went through the boards back in January.
- Full LEDs besides a few flashers. Backbox is color coordinated and playfield has all frosted white bulbs except for one green one under the mosquito in the amber. I also have two LED strips at the back that light up the "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth" sign and add more light to the normally dark back part of the playfield.
- Added the Twilight Zone "Power Ball" to the captive ball shot so that it looks like an egg instead of a silver pinball.
- Added cracked egg with baby dino above the egg shot.
- Added raptor above raptor shot.
- Added two other dinosaurs to the playfield and one near the topper.
- Added lots of palm trees to the playfield.
- Added Universal Studios JP keychain.
- Updated the roms to the latest versions.
- Two new back legs.

There are two minor issues to point out:

- DMD has a single line out on the far right side but it doesn't affect gameplay in any way.
- The T-Rex stutters when it moves left/right. The up/down motion and ball chomping works fine so I just have the left/right turned off in the game adjustments so he stays centered and will bend down and eat the ball whenever you land in the saucer. I'm not sure if the left/right motor just needs some adjusting or if it needs to be completely replaced.

Extras:

I also have a bunch of extra bulbs that I took out of the machine and/or ordered for color matching the lights in the backbox. It's only about $15 worth of lights but I'm happy to throw them in just in case the new owner wants to play around with changing the colors or putting regular bulbs back in the backbox.

- 7 455's (not LEDs). I think 2 of them are not working but I haven't tested since I took them out..
- 3 89's (not LEDs). I think all 3 work. They look brand new but I decided to replace them with LEDs.
- 5 orange frosted 44's.
- 3 red frosted 44's.
- 9 green frosted 44's.
- 1 7-segment green LED strip.

The green 44's and LED strip were used in the playfield but I replaced them with whites to brighten the game up more.

I also have a set of red super bands that the machine came with. I swapped them out for normal black rubbers.

I'm actually looking for one of these (big time) but this price is high considering the DMD issue and Trex issue. Otherwise, it looks good. GLWS.

Thanks. I actually priced it wrong. I thought I had $2600 in it but I really have $2500 so I lowered the price to that. I'm not trying to make or lose money off the deal, just break even. Good luck with your hunt in PA!

What you have in a machine, doesn't mean that's what it's worth, unfortunately. For $2500 I'd expect the game to be working (and have a good DMD), regardless of how many mods you have. Actually find it pretty amazing that you'd spend all that time and money modding it and not fix the T-Rex.

The T-Rex partially works. It chomps and moves up and down just fine but it stutters and hangs up when moving left and right. It was running an old ROM code when I bought it and I was hopeful that a new ROM code would fix the issue as the update, as I understand it, dealt with the left and right movement of the T-Rex. Unfortunately, the ROM update didn't fix it. I'm still learning how to work on machines and the little bit of reading I did on fixing the T-Rex said to me that I'd better leave it alone. And the DMD only has one line out. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix that without replacing the whole DMD but it didn't bother me. The mods I did were simple mods and didn't require anything but time so that's why I focused more on them. The game is really dark in general and I was more interested in making it brighter than anything else.

#7 8 years ago

The motor needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Once the whole game is working 100% you might be able to get that much for it but in its current condition it's gonna be hard. GLWS.

My T-rex was having issues with the left - right motion too. I was worried it was the motor.... In test mode, it made some noise and no (or next to no) motion. I took the T-rex off the machine, and was hoping that it was just a set screw (similar to the set screw on a flipper bat being loose). I was lucky enough that it was the set screw, which I tightened up (and quite a few other screwins) and it was working flawless afterwards. I believe the motor is ~ $70, but if you're lucky enough to just have to tighten up some screws, then it's no real problem. Don't expect peeps to pay top $ for a machine that isn't working properly. I would expect buyer to offer $300 less than asking price due to the DMD and the T-Rex issue.

There is a good market for this table, but it needs to be fully working. Mine sold really quickly, but everything worked as it should. I am really surprised I got $2800, but it was HUO and nearly perfect. Mine was missing the black boot under t-rex to hide the metal hinge and that was really it. I did not even notice it until the guy that bought it said something. It will sell, but be open to offers.

#10 8 years ago

Update:

The T-Rex is mostly working now. The left/right still stutters but he is now picking up the ball and chomping it. I turned off the left/right motor in the game adjustments so he just stays centered now. When a ball lands in the saucer, he bends down, picks it up, and chomps it.

I also just lowered the price. I've had a few bites but nothing has panned out yet. I'm more interested in a trade still but I'm open to an outright sale as well. I'm really wanting a flow game like a HS2 or something along those lines. Let me know what you have!

#11 8 years ago

Weekend bump.

Just lowered the price to $2400 and I'm still considering trades, especially for a HS2.

#12 8 years ago

I'm also open to shipping if you aren't within driving distance!

#13 8 years ago

Price lowered to $2300. I'm loosing $200 at this point and I don't think I can let it go for any less. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new game purchase and I don't have the room for it until I sell JP so down the price goes.

Assuming you bought from this seller, based on the description and your location: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-fs-jurassic-park-in-nc Did you not like the game that you are selling it so quickly?

Who cares it's still a solid deal. Id give him the $2400 in a second if I could pick it up. Now, before all you people who have no intention of buying it anyway and just want to start shit....

$2400 I'd buy it in a second, my kids really want one.

$2400 US = $3111.87 CAN

Shipping and taxes $500? = $648.35

Said $2400 game is easy and most likely more than $3760

Its a shame it works out this way.

Yep, that's the one. I did several mods since the purchase -- changed out LED's to frosted whites, added more lighting in the back, changed the LED's in the backbox, changed backbox flashers to LED's, added trees, dinos, Twilight Zone Powerball for egg shot, bought new back legs, bought new ROM set.

I LOVE the theme. I'm a big JP fan. I love the way the game looks also. But unfortunately the game play is just not for me. I have her sitting next to a Stern Star Trek Premium and I think that's a lot of the problem. Haha. JP has actually grown on me in the last week though but I'd really like to have a nice High Speed 2 sitting next to Star Trek so JP has to go. I have a couple of leads on HS2 but I can't pull the trigger until this one goes.

I actually lowered the price from $2400 to $2300. But yea, it's a bummer that it'd cost you so much more.

I wasn't trying to troll on the thread so I apologize if it came off that way. I really wanted to know, since you are losing money on it after only having it for a short while. I love my Data East TFTC and was considering getting a JP in the future(plus there's the updated code but I can't speak for the previous code). I'd probably buy it myself if it weren't for distance and already having 2 pins lined up to purchase. GLWS and finding your HS2.

Thanks! Your post didn't come off that way to me. It does stink to lose money on it. I basically rented her for $200 plus a nine hour road trip for a month. Haha. Oh well. I was dead set on having one so it would have happened eventually anyways. If I had more space I would probably keep her around. That new code update that's been in the works for a while would fix some of the stuff I don't like about the gameplay. She may end up in my collection again one day when I have a bigger game room but for now it's flow or nothing!

The code update has finally been released! Check the JP owners club thread for details.

Woah! Awesome! I hadn't checked that thread in a week or so. I'm contact John Wart Jr. about getting the new ROMs are we speak. So the new owner will likely get the newest official Data East ROMs and the newest unofficial ROMs.

Whoa, tell me more please. I am reviving a JP machine that's been sitting in my basement for 10+years. Fully functional except for the DMD. Probing around the PS indicates the HV section is out. I have a Rottendog replacement on order - hopefully that will do it. Also replacing the DMD ribbon cables as they have a couple severe crimps in them.

So, ROM updates? I had no clue such a thing existing. Can you point me in the right direction to check these out?

Thanks!

just look back a few posts and can read about it, it was just released.

I just purchased the new ROM so whoever buys this will get two ROM's with their purchase...the latest official release and the latest unofficial release. I imagine this new unofficial one will be much better. Random modes instead of "Stampede" every time and I think he made some changes to the ball save also which will be nice. There's a full rundown here if anyone is wondering: http://www.pinballcode.com/jp6

Basically...now is the time to buy a JP! Someone come get her so I can get my HS2!

Thank you both! That was a very interesting read; happy to see new developments on this machine.

I'll have to wait and see if my PS replacement will bring my DMD back to life before I place my order for the ROM.

I've had about six different offers. Five trades for games I'm not too interested in right now and one cash offer that wasn't quite enough. Lots of interest but no done deals yet.
