I agree

Good observation.

The moral of this story is to treat people the way that you would like to be treated. Stick it to people and as a result no one on pinside buys your games lol

What? Needs minor work? Game does not power up! A switch error is a minor problem.

#7 8 years ago

looks like all his games do not power up

I wish I had the space for this.... As long as everything is there, the price is right for a project like this (assuming the display is good). As much as people seem to complain they cant find project machines, there is one right here for sale. This is a fun game to play, I am sure it will find a good home.

Take extreme caution when buying from Kevin Honnaker of K n K Pinball. I wouldn't proceed unless he has proven everything works 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt. Ask for video of switch, solenoid, sound, display, and GI tests.

At least put some effort into talking bad about this dude instead of copying and pasting. I am not saying buyer beware here, but this guy is clearly listing this as a nonworking project.

Kinda where I am at. It is a pretty big gamble. The display can be replaced with an lcd for about 200-250. The big ifs are the condition of the sound board and dmd driver board. Those are hard parts to come by. If I had the money its probably worth seeing, but as a total project its very much at your own risk.

I didn't realize you could replace the large Sega DMD for with an LCD. Why do people keep buying them on eBay for so much

Because you have to build it yourself and the dmd extender is hard to come by.

Don't forget also Frank's head often doesn't work on these. Without this powering up and from the pics I would call this a huge gamble.

Franks head is an rc servo that is often stripped just like tommy's blinders. Not that expensive to replace. The servo board is another story, but I do recall someone making a replacement. I am full up until I finish shopping Diner and put it up for sale/trade (that or flinstones). Were I n the market I'd consider it 800-1000 depending on condition so its not like the seller is way out of the ballpark.

no it's the seller's reputation. He already knows what's wrong with it. It's going to cost to much to fix up and sell. so he going to dump it on someone. that's why every ad he post theres "buyer beware" on the top

C'mon Jeremy, that's a pretty big stretch. The reason there is a buyer beware on every post is because the same people keep posting on every single one of this guy's for sale threads. I am 95% sure he doesn't already know whats wrong with it. After talking with him about different stuff on the phone, I don't think board work is his forte at all.

Like I said before, IF the display works, going by normal market prices, there is still meat on the bone at his asking price for people that know what they are doing without having to buy a bunch of new parts to solve their problems.

Feeling mixed. Go look at my fastbreak thread. People posted buyer beware who have never met or dealt with me. Pinside can be finicky. On the other hand at the end of the day who knows. All we are doing is giving this seller more time at the top allowing more people to see its for sale lol

Swap Pinside with the words "The Internet" and you pretty much nailed it. We are losing the art of personal communication courtesy of some zeroes and ones. As great as the Internet is, it is bringing our abilities to communicate amicably to a screeching halt. There are a ton of people here (and everywhere for that matter) that have their digital pitchforks ready for their next battle.

Bump for the seller. Struggling not to grab this as I dont have room, but Franks don't come up for sale all too often around me. Would look nice next to Haunted House and Phantom of the Opera.... Oh well, no horror trifecta for me.

Also bump for the buyer to inspect in person.

1200 seems steep for a game that doesn't power up. Considering these usually go for 1200-1500 fully working.

You need your Delorean back my man ... I haven't seen a decent one of these (fully working) local to us sell for under $1900 in at least two years.

But Tim, when you got a whole thread that is about how you ripped someone off. You can't take one word from this guy, He describes his games as working and when you get there it's this, it's that. me and you can fix this stuff but a lot of people who buy games can't even left the playfield. Not this game as disclosed as project. but other games. I bet he already knows what wrong with it. A long time ago I bought a sega viper night drivin game out from under him from a op in Milwaukee. He got my number from the op and called me threaten me to sell it to him. fuck him

In the past 2 years there was only 1 that I saw for sale under 1900. The rest have been over 2k. I have one that has a sound issue and I would not take less than $1600 for it.

#23 8 years ago

There was a fully working one that sold in the Louisville, Ky area last year for $1750. A friend of mine got it. It set for a week or so at that price before he bought it. I am not terribly familiar with the segas but am paying attention to this thread because I have been looking at a project Frankenstein locally.

I haven't seen that. In decent shape with the display they have been 2-2200 more times then not. It is a fun game, not the end all be all, but has its fans.

then it must have really shot up. Most of the big display segas have a hard time fetching above 1500 except for BF, and even that only hits the 1800 range. This one, untested, not able to test the display, boards , motors or anything. I wouldn't want to be into it for more than $700, because there are too many expensive unknowns. Plus it's dirty as shit.

Seriously, where do you see these prices? I haven't seen a BF working under 2200 in the past two years.

you have to remember. You guys look for shopped games in peoples collections. You don't buy dirty routed games, or reimports that just came off a container. You are buying stuff that has already been cleaned up, new rubbers and what not. Those arn't the games I typically buy. If you are willing to do the work, do the drive, games are typically much cheaper. if you want plug and play, you are going to pay for it.

I would if I saw these for sale.

you are not going to find them looking on here.

True. I only buy these type games as well. They are harder to find but worth the wait. I enjoy bringing them back almost as much as playing them. I have never bought a game from pinside. Trade yes but, buy no. Not that I wouldnt, I check the market daily I just never find the right deals close enough to me.

Please, teach us your ways, o great project pinball master

#32 8 years ago

I do not know the secrets of captain neo but I only buy games as they become available. If I go looking for titles I have to pay a premium. If I sit back and wait for deals I seem to find them. There are no places to play locally for me so I buy every game that I think is a good deal. Clean it, shop it, play it, if I get tired of it I'll trade or sell it.
