Selling my “keeper” firepower 2. Like all too often in this hobby, a
game is a “keeper” then another “keeper” comes along, and you gotta make room. Well that’s my current situation.
Sorry for the long write up, no one likes surprises.....
This is a very nice original example of FP2. I’ll start off with the 2
”bad things” to get that out of the way..The playfield has been
touched up, very well (in my opinion) by the previous owner. Luckily
it didn’t have the type of major center wear this game is known for
having. I spot clearcoated his touchups with automotive clearcoat once i got it, so it’s sealed and can be waxed without paint loss now. The rest is very nice and polished. Secondly, the backglass (still a lot
better then most i’ve seen) had some scratches (not paint loss) from
maybe being stored improperly or whatnot. I touched them up best i
could, i did not seal the touch ups, so you can go back and remove the acrylic paint and do it better if you wish. Otherwise it’s very nice
with no flaking or bubbling anywhere. That’s all for the bad!
The good....The cabinet is beautiful, with only minor bumps and
briuses. The speaker panel (which is ALWAYS cracked/trashed/repainted poorly) is almost mint (small nick on the lower left chrome, that’s all). Everything works 100%. The legs are powdercoated silver. I’ve added the speech board from Firepower so the game talks now (i can remove if you don’t care for that and want it OEM), and Installed Pinscore LED
displays.
I’ve done the following in the 3 months i’ve had it...
Full strip down shop job which included New rubbers, new plastic
posts, new lane guides, new flipper bats. Buff with Novus 2, followed
by 3 coats of mothers paste wax. Installed #47 bulbs throughout to cut down on heat. Repainted/restored the front door. Cabinet buffed to a shine.
I’ve completed the following board bulletproofing...
New Mosfet transistors with resistor delete on the driver board (GREATLY reduced the heat in the head). Zero ohm resistor/jumper mod on driver board. Reflowed and checked all header pins and driver board to MPU connections. Rebuilt the power supply, rebuilt the sound board and replaced the crappy Scanbe socket. Installed a 10 year lithium battery on the MPU (No previous acid damage on the MPU either FYI). Installed the two 8amp fuses for the Bridge rectifier.
Everything works and sounds 100%. The bell is awesome and works great too. This is a challenging and underated game that doesn’t come up in this condition very often, it will surely be missed but life happens in this hobby! Please ask questions. I will gladly take more pictures, video etc. If need be. I’m OK with shipping at buyers expense, it’s a first floor no steps direct walk out of the game room.
