Game - for sale

For sale: Fathom

Added: 2017-05-18 22:00:00 UTC • Re-listed: 1 time (June 30th, 2017) • Ended: July 23rd, 2017
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 4,000 (Firm)

Price is firm

This is overall a nice Fathom. The cabinet is very nice. The BG is original with a few minor flaws. The playfield is a little rough with some flaking and lots of ball swirls but the art is all their. Game was gone through about a year ago with new bulbs, rubbers, drops as needed, tumbled and polished, etc. Flippers are snappy and the game plays 100%. If you were one of the lucky ones that got a CPR playfield this one would be perfect for a swap out. I have a fully restored Fathom coming and don't need both of them.

I am mainly looking for cash but would consider trading this towards a nicely modded GOT premium, IMVE, restored TOTAN, restored MB, or restored CCC with cash added on my end. No other games will be considered in trade offers.

Hate to ask what you paid for the fully restored Fathom if $4200 is the price for a player..

I'll have close to $6500 in it when done. Unfortunately Fathom's are highly sought after and have been really pricey for a while. They didn't make a ton of them and it has great art and is a really good game. You should see what a $2500 fathom looks like

I got one for slightly more than that and I can tell you they are scary!
I will have 6500 in mine by the time it is done!

It's pretty shocking how poor of a condition they have to be in to go that cheap. Fathom is one of the classics that could definitely be remade and be successful if it could come in around stern pro pricing or a little cheaper. CGC needs to be looking at this one after they finish the low hanging fruit if pinball continues to grow.

#7 6 years ago

best of luck on the sale. The more the players sell for, the more my restored fathom is worth.

#8 6 years ago

Ugh, I miss my Fathom. Should have never, ever sold it.

is it really? Cab looks nice, pf is not blown out, game is completely working, bg is original and apparently nice.

I mean it is likely a little high, but not much. Reality is that 3k buys you a core now-a-days. This is a working example and honestly I would rather have this than the rough core I picked up (after a year of looking).

Heck, Pinside estimates price at 3500+ for a Fathom and that is a decent measure. This one is overall a pretty decent example.

I will say that OP needs more and better photos in order to sell this, but price is not super out of line.

OP complained in another thread that he didnt get price policed. We came in to help him out.

They are just joking from another thread. If anyone needs more pics or anything specific pictured I'm happy to get some more this weekend. My pinball room is dark and those cell phone pics do suck.

Lower your price to $1,200 and you may get a sale. Looking at the pictures the game looks very grainy, like I am viewing it through a cell phone. IMHO a grainy game cannot command a premium price.

That playfield will clean up really well with careful use of Magic Eraser.

#18 6 years ago

It would be great to see what Novus and some polish would do to that playfield. it looks like a nice survivor.

Just being honest. I don't think it will clean up that well. It has a lot of chipping and crackling. I was leery of getting very rough with it as I didn't want to risk removing any of the art. I do think most of the light blue open water areas would clean up with very careful use of a magic eraser. The rest I'm not so sure about. It still shows pretty well but definitely is what I would consider a playfield swap candidate if someone wants a really nice game. It's nice enough though that most people could play it as is and not be bothered by it though.

Price is not out of line, OP sort of asked in another thread for drama and price policing in this thread to increase traffic.
we were just being nice

$4200. I fall off checking pinside for a little while and prices continue to zoom...

This game seems to only go up in value, grab a Fathom while you still can

I'm trying to not be biased, but yeah; $4,200 for a working nice condition Fathom will be a good price in the next couple of years

#24 6 years ago

Hey Naples Fl I'm planning on moving down there by Sept Oct of this year, looking in golden gate area, preferably 2-3 acres with a detached man cave !

#25 6 years ago

I really hope the end up remaking this game!

It's a good price right now. If someone can show me all of the nice ones going for less I'm all ears.

Me too, great game that more people should get to enjoy.

Just sold a perfect Centaur to a buddy of mine for $5000 CDN, new playfield, plastics, good condition backglass, restored and clearcoated cabinet... Seems I gave him a deal with these prices wow... GLWS

I'd say you were spot on with your price, maybe a few hundred low but not a bad price for a friend. Fathoms consistently go for more then Centaur though. If that was a Fathom in that condition it would have easily brought $6500 if the restore was done right.

#30 6 years ago

Price lowered to reflect what I have told several people that inquired through PM what my bottom price is. So 4K takes it, not going to haggle or drop it one cent below that though.

#31 6 years ago

Wow, $3K for a core game? Glad I grabbed mine when I did Bump.

Nope, original and really nice.

Been teetering on this, that W? or a motorcycle. Gotta go with 2 wheels man, or I woulda bought this.

#36 6 years ago

Reason I ask is, every bally SS had a sticker on the right side of the back box.

Other then mild shock hazards this game is guaranteed to be safer then a motorcycle . But what fun is that??

Go for the Fathom!!! You already have the beautiful pf to load in it!!!

Not sure if it was removed at some point along the way. Game has no signs of being restenciled though. A couple of very small touch ups but otherwise it looks to be completely original.

I'm picking up on yer sarcasm Hilty. His pf is way nicer and looks damn good.

I thought you had a CPR?

Either way. You have kids... no 2 wheeler. Get the pinball instead!

??
A CPR would not be sittin on my floor. Mines original and just ok...his looks good. Surprised this hasn't sold yet.

Lots of awesome new releases right now. The classic Bally market is a little slow unless it's a full restore. People will beat down your door for those.

Some additional pics for the people that requested the. You can see a little wear at the top right drop, along with some of the flaking better. The 2 touched up spots on the BG are clearly shown. Also added some inside the cab pics.
