For sale: Fathom

Added: January 7th, 2019 Ended: January 9th, 2019
Condition: Partially shopped/refurbished

Item description

Game is working 100%. Factory mylar covering most of the playfield, there is some wear to the wood in the upper area, check out the pictures. The game is unshopped and needs a good teardown with rubbers, new bulbs etc.... One broken plastic on the left side as indicated in the picture and the two typical return lane plastics are chipped but hardly noticeable. Backglass is mint from what I've seen. All displays nice and working 100%. Sounds and speech work but the game is a little scratchy at times in attract mode, it comes and goes and probably could use new capacitors on the sound board. MPU is clean and has a new battery mounted off the board. The coin door is nice but has a small area in the picture that shows the chrome has been flaked off a little, not a big deal but wanted to point it out. Playfield glass has some bad scratches and you will want to replace it. Flippers will need to be rebuilt but they do function as the game is very playable like it sits. Obviously the pop bumper caps and trim rings are not correct but should be available. Not looking for any trades. Cash on the glass and absolutely no shipping of any kind. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things so if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks,
John

LOL.......you got me on that one, my blood was boiling there for a second.

Electrocute, wouldn't you like to make the road trip and get out of that warm climate to a nicely cold frigid temperature?

John

Had 11 days off two weeks ago, nothing to do. Couldn’t find a good reason for a road trip.

Wow when did Fathom get up there in price. Not saying it isn’t a fair ask just surprised that’s all. I had Centaur for years which I consider comparable and would never imagine it would exceed 4K.

Ok looks like Fathom outsells Centaur by a fair bit. I’m still surprised but not as much.

I had a nice Centaur and I decided to sell it and rebuild a Fathom. Best decision I ever made. It's a better machine.

Fathom is the best early Solid State Pinball out there! Game play and art!

Agree - great game but holy crap - not paying that for an early SS game. Having said that, I had a feeling it would sell....

They really don't come around any less. Grabbing one at $3k gets you a severe non working beater

#23 9 months ago

Pricing has changed. Stern SS machines are way higher than a few years ago. Same as Bally. Quicksilver, etc are going for $3k+ for beaters. Bally early 80’s prices are the 100% higher than 5 years ago. Any nice Fathom EBD or Centaur are pretty far over $3k.

That's why I crossed this one off my wish list. Plenty of other stuff I like better for the money. But that's just me...
