Game - for sale

For sale: F-14 Tomcat (Williams, 1987)

Added: 2016-01-27 17:30:42 UTC • Ended: March 9th, 2016
Condition: Functional - needs major work

Price

$ 850

I have a project F-14. I picked this up as a project to do and well don't have the time. I got me a LOTR!!!!! But back on track, I have repaired the MPU, tested works 100% sound works 100%, Brand new led displays, Flipper board works 100%, Power Board works 100%, Transformer is 100%. The game will need alot of work. What I mean by that is alot of the parts under the playfield were removed. Flipper assemblies some coils, and resistors cut out from the flash boards under the playfield. I took many pictures. I am also going to include a extra semi populated F-14 playfield into the deal. If you are interested in this send me a message. I am a very motivated seller as I would like the room back in my garage. Also forgot to mention the beacons are there and are working with the motor. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for selecting the appropriate condition and not listing as HUO. New playfields are likely being made for those considering getting this title.

#3 8 years ago

Dammit... I'd be on my way if you weren't 2000 miles away!!

#4 8 years ago

Would be a great candidate for a new playfield that's in the works.

#5 8 years ago

If you were local I would consider it.

#6 8 years ago

At that price take of topper and topper mech and sell seperate for $250. Lots of F14's missing toppers!

ummmm, you do know we are only 2 hours away from each other, right?

got me a HSII:the getaway from your neck of the woods...

now back to your regularly scheduled market posting... GLWS!!

Can also be picked up in Youngstown ohio. Also I am getting emails that the price is to high in the condition it is in. Whats a complete boardset selling for working and pin led display not counting the working beacons.

ummmmm, you do know the price is a bit high for the condition it is in. If I am going to be driving 2.5 hours away I would rather not be over paying for a project that may or may not take $800 to get it to work eventually.

You will likely get more parting it out. Given the unknowns I would say 500-600 would be the sweet spot for me on this f14 project. I would drive out to get it asap (if you are willing to go that low message me). Everyone has their own prices. Maybe someone will show interest, just give it time. GLWTS.

Odd thing this F14 is.

Cab looks really nice. But clearly someone began parting parts under the pf. Sadly, it's probably a parts game at this point.

If you think that the price is too high, don't buy it. If it sells for what he is asking, someone did not think that the price was too high.

Yes that is how economics generally works.

I think the price is on the high end, but fair for everything that is included. Personally, much of my passion for this hobby is doing this kind of work. But i'm not retarded, I would only pay what I felt the value of everything included was worth. Case in point, I paid a the going rate average for a Hurricane that was supposedly a clean working game in excellent condition.. It turned out to be a complete turd, and now i'm badly upside-down in it because I wasn't EXPECTING to blow $800+ on parts (just so far) and well over 100 hours of labor restoring it!! I don't believe that to be the case here. Unfortunately in this case, the shipping hit would push the initial investment well over "not a good deal" money. If I was within driving distance of this guy, i'd already be on my way to pick it up!

What happened? Did you not look at the machine? Kinda hard to buy a turd if you do your due diligence.

Thought I did... bought from a Pinsider with a stellar 4-year reputation for selling over 100 machines. Gave him the benefit of the doubt based on endless recommendations, I bought it with only seeing some low-res pics that I was texted by the seller. Most of the issues were not visible in pics. You cant tell the translight disc motor is toast in a picture. You cant see battery acid damage in a backbox pic taken from 3 feet away, AND I was specifically TOLD "boards look good". All 3 unobtanium ramps were demolished in spots that were not noticeable in the pics, etc etc etc. So lesson learned, don't trust anybody, don't believe anyone's opinion, and don't buy any machine without seeing it with my own eyes or at least seeing a ton of VERY high-res high quality photos!

I must be so hard up for a project I actually considered driving the 5 hours to get this.

For everything included and already gone through working 800 seems reasonable. Just my opinion.

That sucks.... It happened to me as well...Lesson and my earlier message was neither YOU or I did proper due diligence. Got to give these pins a full anal inspection these days. I promised myself I would never do it again but I found that I have done it again. I've been lucky. Sorry to hear your story.

Ok, here is where I stand. Had a lot and I mean a lot of messages offering 500 or less. I will part it out and if you need something send me an email. I could not do the 500 as the led display itself is 200. Thanks
