Would love an F-14 some day, hope to see a project show up around here eventually.
Just a quick thought on your sound issues as I had a similar problem with Whirlwind. It ended up being my -12V signal. -12V goes to both the CPU board and the sound board. If you lose it going to either one of those boards you will be partially missing sound. Could potentially be an easy fix for you or your new buyer.
