Open for offers

This listing is for a fully restored Bally Evel Knievel. I am listing this and helping sell for a friend. The game is currently located in Springfield, MO but we can get the game to Chicago for Expo, or Indiana, Illinois, or Michigan anytime if needed before then with no problems, and we can figure out shipping if needed as well! The game has a new CPR playfield, new CPR plastics, and the backglass is an original in amazing condition. It has brand new Altek boards for everything and new LED displays. The cabinet was not only repainted using Pinball Pimp stencils but also clear coated by Ron Pennington who has had several award-winning restorations featured at the Texas Pinball Festival! All the metal has been tumbled and polished, the spinners are juiced, the pops and slings are strong! New drop targets, new posts, new rubbers. This machine is basically brand new! Any questions at all please let me know and I will do my best to get everything answered as soon as possible. Asking $5500 OBO, may consider trades for Stern Pro machines but cash is priority!

Whats going on with those inserts?? I'm in the middle of a full EK restore too, and my pf doesn't look like that - I'd have sent it back if it had - below is mine to compare -

I'd like to see a picture of the inserts under "P" and "E" in "SUPER" in the middle of the playfield too, those look just as bad from what i can see - ?

Fix the flipper alignment, and change the flipper rubber color - next time, splatter the cab too.........................................

i couldn't live w that pf. Not for $900.

Other than that..........nice game -

Flipper alignment looks to match factory to me, and it plays incredibly smooth. I can't even tell what you are talking about on the inserts.

Here is CPRs most recent website photo of their playfield. This one is also from a few years ago when they were still doing actual screen printing as well so you get the more solid ink colors. Not sure what you are referencing. Anyway inserts look the exact same to me.

It's the lifting /cracked inserts. The black paint rings on 4000, 6000, 8000 have cracks in your second picture.

Ah I see now. Thank you for explaining it. I'll ask my buddy to get some close up shots of those and see what they look like. Also are Evel cabinets speckled from factory? I don't remember them that way and looking at past restore by HEP his certainly doesn't seem to be.

Yeah I was just looking at the picture you had included and I thought it was from the photos of his game. I see what you are saying now and have asked him for close up photos. Thanks.

I havent started my cab restore yet, but - it's speckled -

HEP often takes liberties and does custom work, if someone doesn't want speckles, he can do that for them.

And I honestly dont think those flippers are aligned correctly......that left one is definitely on an upward angle -

I'm starting to sound like a dick so I'm gonna stop.

GLWS - I'm bummed for the seller about that playfield, I know how much work was put into this thing.

Only to those that are literate haha but thanks for pointing out the inserts it is good to know as I hadn't seen it and I'm just the helper selling the game. I've asked for more pics of the area and will update for my buddy when he gets me the pics.

I have never understood why someone that obviously isn't interested in buying the machine feels the need to get on someones for sale thread and crap all over it. Total DICK move in my opinion. If your not interested move on.

The guy did a shitload of work, I'm in the middle of a restore w the same parts from the same vendor on the same game and noticed some glaring differences in the quality of the PARTS, the pf, to be specific. Other than that I mentioned the flippers didn't look lined up quite right and that my cab is speckled.

For the price of a Stern Pro, i thought it was relevant.

It's not filthy its speckled!

All good guys. Game has two buyers lined up just figuring out if he wants to deal with shipping or not.

Congrats with sale! This was my favorite pin as a kid.

Beautiful game.
Nice work Tommy.

No doubt this is a nice restoration. However my very first thought was the cab should be speckled. I’m also surprised no one‘s mentioned the pop bumper caps. They’re plain white instead of having the “EK” like the original. I know those original caps are hard to come by and I don’t think they’re being reproduced.
Nonetheless, it’s a good looking pin and I’m sure it’ll sell.

Yes, you probably need to settle for decals:

It’s over to the restorer if they want to speckle it or not.

The speckle was put there to hide fly shit on location.

My house doesn’t have any flies so no fly shit.

No way I’m spraying some ugly speckly crap over the top of a top looking, automotive quality glossy cabinet respray.

But that’s me.

As someone who has restored 2 Ek's in the past & is doing a 3rd now.... just some random thoughts to add....

The original cabs were speckled. Personally I think speckled cabs look hideous & even if a customer I was restoring a game for requested it, I still probably wouldn't do it. I agree with some others when they say speckled cabs just look "dirty". I don't really understand why Bally thought it was great idea to waste the time to speckle the cab but.... to each his own.

The dead pop caps with no EK logo is easy to fix. Decals are avail from several sources.

CPR PF with inserts breaking up through the clear... I've had to fix that before, it's certainly not unheard of. It is possible the clear cracked after the game was finished or at least after the PF was re-populated. Who knows. PF's are tough... they are a dead, ex living thing (wood) that has plastic inserts in them & automotive clear overtop. They are subjected to tons of different temps & humidity levels from time they are cut to the time they are screened & cleared & then shipped & then populated & installed in a game. Everyone thinks that once a PF is produced it will look the exact same from day it was cleared to the day they have their hands on it.... not even close.

Flippers are easy enough to adjust.

It's nice to see a well done more common production # resto actually sell for good $. The last EK I did, I told the owner after it was done, it was worth in the $5500-$6500 range & based on this one selling & bringing good interest I see that that is right in the range.

It would have been nice to see condition of inside of cab & backside of coin door & lamp board to see how far those went during restore, but even without those the fact this sold high is a good sign for guys like me who put 100's of hours into bringing games like these back to life.

To me an EK isn't a great "player" but definitely one of Bally's most attractive "art" games, which are the games that I love.

Congrats on the sale.

There have been several mentions about CPR playfields to crack around the inserts like this when stapling the wire s in. I think HEP mentions about this in a post. And agree the flippers need the alignment fixed. I actually like the not speckled look better.

Wow, those decals look pretty good. Thanks for the eBay link. I had my EK pop caps painted but the decals look pretty good.

That’s what’s nice about pinball. You could do it anyway you like. I’m just saying I prefer the original speckled look.

Hope the OP gets this sold soon and the EK finds a new owner!

That's really strange. It looks like it's been damaged, especially around the 2000 insert. And it looks like the clear cracked from the 8000 insert to the 6000 insert. Unfortunate.

I guess if it bothers the new owner they can always have it recleared.
