Game - for sale

For sale: Dragon - Restored

Added: 2017-06-14 00:14:23 UTC • Ended: June 22nd, 2017
Condition: Fully restored (full original status)

Price

$ 650

Item description

Beautiful restored (just finished) Gottlieb Dragon. Solid State electronics 1978.

Playfield was touched up and clear-coated, cab was repainted (with a satin clear-coat), backglass in good condition (with some touchups), BRAND NEW power supply and MPU board (Ni-Wumpf). The modern MPU board has many additional functions such as an added skill shot, ball save and diagnostics.

Looks great and lots of fun!

The game plays fast. Flippers are strong. Playfield looks great but it isn't perfect -faint lines are visible in lighter colored areas where the original finish was cracked but it's not visible from player perspective. The plastics are in good shape but a couple were glued back together. They look very good though.

The switches are all in great shape and are very responsive. Everything works!

Pick up only. Located in west Michigan near Holland.

Im not familiar with this title but seems like a good price for the amount of work done.

I can't believe someone took the time and effort to put all this into a Dragon. This game usually can't be given away. This is probably the nicest Dragon on the planet.

#4 5 years ago

Looks totally beautiful!

Really nice job, and GLWS

People buy different games for different reasons. Dragon was the first game I ever owned. I bought it from a guy from Ann Arbor in about 1985 who was getting into bubbler juke boxes. I hauled it to my apartment in Ypsilanti in the back of my 1984 Z28. I loved that game. I played the crap out of it and it was the focal point at many parties. Even then though, there were issues with edge connectors and battery leakage.

Moved it to our first house in Ann Arbor the next year and it was never very reliable, so I sort of lost interest in it. Moved it to our second house, where eventually it left in a "junk purge" to a guy who wanted the backglass.

I have to admit, I was tempted on this one. Too many others in the queue right now though.

Ha same here.

Yeah, gameplay on Dragon is not awesome, but that game looks so killer. Great job. If I lived nearby I'd be loading it up today.

GLWS.

Amazing! I love seeing games that usually don't get much love being restored like this!

GLWTS!

This was my first game for me as well almost 20 years ago. Dragon will always be a special pin for me. This one is beautiful looking, nice job with the restore. GLWTS

People say there aren't any good deals around anymore and this is still available?

This is a crazy good deal, no way will this still be available in a few hours. Looks gorgeous, great work!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Yeah, I couldn't help myself I wanted to see what this game would look like with some restoration. It was in very poor shape but It turned out great and is more fun to play than I thought. With the cleared PF and strong flippers it's pretty fast. It has a cool feature wherein you can collect your bonus and the build it back up, lite the spinner and nail it until you drain. Overall it has a nice feel. The end of ball bonus tally is addicting!

Fortunately I enjoy the process more than turning a profit

Yeah, gameplay on Dragon is not awesome,

I never thought that. I think it is actually a pretty cool game. Spinners, rollovers, vary targets and big a titted babe.

I seriously looked at a EM version of this one once, but it was pretty beat. Also, the game play wasn't the same. Only went to 2x bonus and so on.

Starting to waver......

#13 5 years ago

Wow i would buy this if closer. Love the vari-target.

#14 5 years ago

Very nice!!!

#15 5 years ago

Looks awesome. I just sold mine, it is underrated in my opinion. Fairly simple layout but challenging. The rollovers increase your bonus but the varitargets decrease it so you can play the field to home in on that extra ball! And you really have to nail the targets just right to light the spinner. Tuning is critical on this game or it's a complete dog. My friend fixed one up to sell at Expo a couple years ago and I was actually surprised with the way it played. The Ni-Wumph features are a nice addition.

Yup. BTW the flippers in the pics are not setup properly. They are now.

Why is this still here. You guys living close are crazy not to snap this up.
Really nice resto.

#19 5 years ago

The game is still available.

I will consider trades for project solid state machines +-$. If it's a good trade I might deliver to you.

Shoot me a text 1-616-550-7738 (my phone reception sucks)

Thanks guys,

You should see one of our local guy's....unless he sold it. The thing is ridiculous...clearcoated cab as well, but it ain't satin, it's blindingly shiny.

700 bucks for this is nuts....n...v..t..s...nuts.

Yeah that was amazing. Fully restored. Perfect playfield, backglass and cabinet. Wanted $1100 at TPF and didn't get it. You just don't see fully restored machines at these prices.

The game is still available.

I lowered the price. It may not be available for a day or two as I'm waiting for an update to the new Ni Wumpf MPU (gets updated via USB). I just realized that the tilt switch isn't working and it's not the wiring. Everything else works and it plays great. If I had hair I'd be pulling it out right about now! ;>

Seriously though, the game is sweet.

#26 5 years ago

I wish i had time to drive your way i would love to add this to my system 1 line up what a deal . Im not a big dragon fan but man this one is sweet and bet it plays smooth it could be the next poor mans fathom
