For sale: Doctor Who

Added: May 12th, 2019 Ended: May 19th, 2019
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Item description

Game was probably routed in a prior life; but since adoption into my home the last few years and much counseling, it's doing much better.

The good
- Playfield is great, surprisingly so for a routed game.
- Dalek head moves and flashes when speaking (added the missing motor) (will post video in thread)
- ColorDMD
- LED - tasteful. With LED OCD boards for switched and GI. If you don't know what LED OCD is, but you have older games, you really should look this product up. Herg puts out a fantastic product.
- InvisiGlass, reduces overhead glare

The meh
- While one side's red is pretty good, the other side is a bit washed out and more orange.
- RottenDog MPU board. Original board was a lost cause.
- Head is crowded with the addition of ColorDMD and the LED OCD boards (plural)
- Dalek head, when adding the motor, requires cutting. Our installation wasn't 100% perfect, and the head tilts slightly down towards the player. It's not obvious, but if you're OCD, you'll see it.
- I've done my best to highlight the larger issues in the photos.

Game is sold as-is.

Happy to do FaceTime or Skype to preview the game before you drive.

$3500, cash on the glass.
Will accept COD via Chris Fox shipping, if you're in California.

Will accept escrow.com for US buyers only, if you wish to arrange for pick up from my residential location (2 steps). You pay the escrow fees (I'll pay the disbursement fee). FaceTime or Skype is *strongly* recommended for a remote buyer.

Is that the pinballtoys.co.uk mod?

#4 38 days ago

Wow. This is a REALLY good deal. I paid slightly less than this for a game with fewer mods and no colordmd last year, and no moving Dalek. Makes a big difference which moving head mod was installed.

gunstarhero We picked it up in 2015, from DIYpinball.com (the domain no longer exists).

This is a crazy good deal, especially for the west coast.

Thanks for the info. I just picked up a nice Doctor Who and I don’t usually go for “mods” but restoring removed functionality is my jam!

That's major - a $400 upgrade nowadays!

Hmmm 3500 dollar Dr Who
So a pretty nice example of a Dr Who.
400 dollar color dmd
200 dollars worth of OCD boards
250 dollar invisi glass
300 dollar moving Dalek

Another example of a Dr Who if close to me I would buy just for the moving Dalek and any parts better then mine. Make the best of the two games and sell the nice remainder game for like 2900 / 3000? Maybe a little more?
Fun game. Really sweet deal

A nice DrWho is minimum 3K these days. Not a bad deal considering the upgrades.

We were asked for a photo of the LEDs. Sure enough, I failed to post that. I've updated the photos.
When I do LEDs on a game, my rule of thumb:
- Cointaker LEDs (I've got buckets)
- Color matched to inserts: reds, greens, blues
- Yellows and oranges, I typically use warm or cool whites; I don't remember which I used on Dr Who (and am at work right now)
- GI and clear/white inserts are all warm white

Game is now pending. Thanks for the interest and the commentary!

To whomever is the buyer - go get yourself a PinSound, pronto!! Takes the game up several notches to have modern soundtrack and (if you wish), callouts.
