Game - for sale

For sale: Diner $2200

Added: 2018-06-24 22:40:24 UTC • Ended: June 29th, 2018
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 2,200

Selling my Diner. Hasn't seen much game play in a while as I'm not as active in the hobby as I used to be. I went through the test sequences and played a few games today. Everything appears to be working 100%. Left side of cab is scuffed (see pics) but cabinet is solid. Right side is nice. A character insert decal has been applied by a prior owner. Some minor insert lifting. Plastics are good but not perfect. Overall players condition.

Seller either doesn't know, or has not been forthright that there is a decal applied to the character inserts. It is clearly seen in a close-up pic and thought that potential buyers should be aware. Note: I do not know the seller nor have I seen this game in person; I have owned a Diner though and know what to look for

You’re right... never noticed that. Frankly I wasn’t even aware that they made such decals. I’ll update listing. Thanks

Good eye! But more important, respectful to the OP.

$2700 for a players Diner? Wow the market is high these days.

#6 5 years ago

Maybe a bit high but I’m not in any rush to sell. I think this one would cleanup nicely once stickers on cab are removed. I personally like the stickers because it shows it’s life in an actual arcade... but I’m not a ‘collector’. Below is a link to a recent thread discussing prices. It is what it is.

Well, yeah. Have you not been following the numerous threads about the good old days?

Seriously though, prices are getting higher.

I would be a buyer at 1,900

Diner is an awesome system 11 game. Prices should only go up once CPR starts making Diner playfields.

I agree. I am restoring a Diner right now, so I may be biased a little.

#11 5 years ago

Diner has to be one of the prettiest system 11 pins

#12 5 years ago

Diners a fun pin. But the cab is planking and the pf isn’t anything great, along with a decal.

2900 is very high imo.

Prices are getting completely out of control.

I'm pretty sure I am priced out of this hobby. Going to hang on to what I have and be thankful for that.

I took about a year off of actively buying/selling, etc.

The prices are insane. It actually will close off the hobby to new people as they can't afford to just jump in.

Then again, I know how it is spending X on a pin, then wanting your X back, plus a little more. The whole problem with the pricing thing is QUICK TURNOVER. Many don't keep a pin long before they sell. Quick, incremental increases in prices occurs.

I agree with everything except the lack of new new people. Seems too many people with way more money than I make around every corner these days.

I'm cutting back to a single more or less upper tier pin and then just trading.

#16 5 years ago

I certainly don’t disagree with the statements about price inflation and I agree it’s actually the result of too many people in the hobby driving up demand.

Specifically, I remember passing on a $700 black hole many years ago because it was a $450-$500 pin... and that was ebay prices! I also remember selling a nice Congo for $2200. Never really understood how that game became so popular.

Here’s the deal... I just don’t want to leave money on the table. Feel free to make offers. I’m not offended by offers. I may not accept it... but I won’t be offended.

Thanks

I've been in and out of the Pinball game for about 25 yrs now and was always able to scrape some money up to buy another pin.
Not so much anymore.
I can't even say that the prices are too high because it seems someone is always willing to pay.

#18 5 years ago

Ok, ok.. let’s try again at $2200.

#19 5 years ago

Definitely more reasonable.

#20 5 years ago

Should sell pretty fast at that price.

#21 5 years ago

Very fair price now.

I actually wouldn't go much lower at this point.

It will be interesting when it doesn’t sell at $2200. The bubble is deflating.

Not necessarily. It all has to do with condition and if someone thinks it's worth it at that price point or not. I think on this particular one it's the cabinet that's holding it back.....or atleast for me it is. It's a good price for a Diner but is it the right price based on the condition?

Location matters too. If this was a couple hours less of a drive away I'd be willing to eat the difference for a lower tier game that I still like, if my budget wasn't tied up waiting another month for TNA

#31 5 years ago

Hope it’s still around in a week. Closing on a house this week... or else I’d be making the short drive to Sylvania for a new pin and some J&G’s pizza

#32 5 years ago

How many plays has it had in the last 12 years?

Quoted from gutz:

Not sure.. but the batteries aren’t dated from 2006 so probably more than that baywatch.

Speaking of batteries, the Diner boasts a remotely located battery pack! None of those complicated NVRAM things that can fail and perplex you! We’re talking good old American AA batteries here!

Hmm......sooooo tempting.

It's also timing if I hadn't just bought a pin last week I'd be very interested in seeing it in person and more than likely making an offer.anyone want a Sharkey's shootout?

#36 5 years ago

Sometimes it's just a matter of finding someone looking for that pin.

Seems like a fair starting point.

You want Motordome? Because that's the only other one I would consider.
