I have this game too, and thought the same thing...except:
- The flyer has the 8 ball on top
- the manual refers to the position of the cue ball and removing it from the playing field.
- During side pocket mode the quote is 'shoot the cue ball'.
I reversed mine based on hitting the cue ball with the cue stick, but after playing it a bit reversed it back because it actually made more sense with the callout "shoot the cue ball".
No big deal, you can always remove them anyway.
