#13 6 years ago

i must have gotten a hell of a deal because i bought one very similar to this if not better ( very little shooter lane wear) for $3800 this past summer .

#14 6 years ago

I sold my nicer one for 4200. I must have sold too cheap!!!

#15 6 years ago

Is this really a 5k game now? Geez I remember when you could get a TOM for that, now they are being pimped for 7500.

#16 6 years ago

I also sold a nicer Congo this summer for $4500. Maybe this title has went up in price.

#17 6 years ago
Quoted from jake35:

I guess it is if someone will pay that. It's like owning a million dollar error baseball card. You can tell whoever you like that it's worth a million dollars, but you still gotta find someone willing to pay you that much for it if you want the money.

Must add mine did not have a color DMD.

Bump for a damn good seller. I bought my last Drac from push and it was nothing short of amazing.

Only regret in this hobby is that I sold that game, it was that good.

I remember when you could get a TOM for sub 3k in 2010. Prices have gone up. This is a beautiful game. Glws

That's why I'm not on here much. Always the same people too.

All you had to do is not put it in the form and spend 10 whole dollars then you wouldn't hear the BS

Didn't really know the difference. $10 isn't an issue.
It really doesn't bother me anymore about the negativity. The pics are proof of a nice machine. If it doesn't sell that's ok too.

Great game ...and pretty rare.... miss mine

Nice game Worth every penny!GLWS

Actually the $10 would only make the ad be featured and wouldn't block the shitters. GLWS looks like a very nice example of a fun game.

#31 6 years ago

Not sure why people feel the need to police the prices.
I mean how many Congos are for sale in Ohio? Anywhere? Ask the price you want and let the market dictate the sale. GLWTS

Everyone's always bitching & moaning about the price of pinball machines going up, but when one is pointed out, the be nice warriors come to the rescue. Either you like high prices or you own those titles and hope they keep climbing.

Beautiful game. Wish I was closer

#36 6 years ago

I sold mine this summer for a Metallica +1k just as nice with an unfaded cab and added pinsound board with flipper fidelity to a color dmd. He's high but not completely out of the ballpark

#37 6 years ago

I owned a congo and had it about a year. The volcano shot is a top 5 ramp shot for sure but the lower pf is an extremely lame slapfest. I also like the unique postition of the pops. I bought for 1700 and sold for 2800 and that was 2 or 3 years ago. Good luck with your sale.

#38 6 years ago

great guy and great seller
somebody wanting a nice clean congo as a keeper would probably be willing to pay this. you hardly see these come up for sale and when they do its normally a routed pos for 3500-4000!

Nice machine, excellent seller. I've bought a couple machines from him and they all played butter smooth, error free the whole time I had them. As for price, if you don't like it, then get out of the thread. Its great to hear some people bought/sold nicer and cleaner machines. That doesn't mean "your" machine is the standard that all other machines should be based on for price.

I own over 50 games now and Congo is still a top played game in the house, bolted to the floor, and rare to find a nice one.

It has been funny to watch this title in particular. Lots of the old school collectors passed it over based on theme because they felt it was the weakest theme of the WPC-95 games. That was back in the day when they were sub 2k.

Reality is that it was always a rarer title so many had never even played it when they formed and opinon.

Then pinball shows got more popular and more people got exposed to the game. People realized it actually has lots of nostalgia, is a fanstastic shooter with some cool stuff, has some fun toys, and the B class movie is so out of date that now it seems more like a non-licensed theme. The game play is more choose your own adventure and when set up well is plenty challenging (I have owned mine for over 5 years I think and only made it to 100 diamonds 2x).

Quotable callouts, infections ear worms, and addictive to play 'just 1 more' (this is the game that often gets me in trouble if the wife is getting ready and I am just going to play 1 quick game of pinball before we leave...)

It was 2500
then it was 3500
then a few at 4500 that were nice.

Reality is that this is a very fun deck and still more loaded than any NIB pro coming out now. People look around, see remakes of top 10 games for 7k, NIBpros for 5400, and then a solid congo for less.

I can tell you honestly what one I would pick everytime...

I actually think Congo is still undervalued for what it is >> WPC95 (some of the best era in DMD B/W), rare (compared to others from that era), and just plain fun.

While we have seen the NIB pro market soften on the secondary, we still see good older games continue to rise in value.

Congo's a GREAT game, but not deep enough to stay around for very long. Nobody was playing it in my house, and I'd seen all there was to see, so it was time to go. This is a nice one, though!

#43 6 years ago
Quoted from Guinnesstime:

Yesterday before this Congo was posted?
It looks great, but at $5200 this is easily the highest priced Congo ever seen on Pinside, unless someone posted a NIB.
Just to put this in perspective...

Except for that one that was listed at 5900 up in Michigan. I think it's now down to 5300 or somewhere around there. Awesome game either way. He's high but he's just seeing what he can get.

Completely inaccurate statement, here are at least 6 others from Pinside that are more, one is listed at the same price.

I was on a hunt for a Congo for a LONG time and finally found one that never got listed on Pinside(fortunately cause I know it would have sold in a heartbeat). I can tell you I paid right around this price for it and couldn't be happier, one of my favorite games!

#46 6 years ago

You can easily spend +$5k on games worse then Congo. I think we're going to continue to see more "b-list" and "c-list" games increase in value, as people discover there are great games outside of the top-10 and top-100. When I entered the hobby, I could have purchased my entire current collection for roughly the same price of a Medieval Madness. Pinball pricing is weird!

#47 6 years ago
Quoted from Bud:

As for price, if you don't like it, then get out of the thread

To be fair, he could have easily disabled comments when he posted the machine. Pinsides always going to Pinside and I think prices would escalate much higher without the price police.

Mine is in superb shape/color dmd/shaker.... I wouldn't part with it for under 5.

So $5,000 will get it? Sounds like a better deal.

#50 6 years ago

Prices are up on a lot of games. Whysnow nailed it on Congo. It has a lot of unique, fun features and far from shallow. You have a bunch of multiballs, interactive volcano, different video modes, unique modes, and a really fun layout. Theme and music is great in my book. The jungle vibe with guerillas, hippos, diamonds, and an interactive volcano is all good in my book. True, the final wizard mode is weak and the lower playfield could be better but it all works. I like that it's a bit easy and nothing requires a lot of planning. You just shoot for what is fun and play out the modes. I don't know if any of my games are "bolted to the floor" but Congo could be my favorite game. It would take a lot to pry mine out of my hands. I bought mine for far less than $5000 but put a ton of money into it with repairs, new ramps, new plastics, rubbers, leds, etc. Pretty sure I have more than $5000 in it by now. Finding any Congo is not easy and finding a nice one is more difficult. Subtract $400 for the colordmd and $4800 is not unreasonable if you are honest. If you can find a nice Congo for much less than jump on it. GLWS.
