For sale: Black Hole (Gottlieb, 1981)

Added: January 20th, 2016 Ended: January 21st, 2016
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Item description

I am offering up this game for friends who are not pinball folks, but have owned this one game for 20+ years. I played it last evening for the first time in many years, and was totally surprised as to how well it played and the overall condition. If you are looking for Black Hole in excellent original condition and working perfectly - you may want to check this one out. The game has been serviced only once during their ownership, and the service was for a minor problem. Ironically, the service person was Ivan Lysykanycz, the Allentown Pinfest chief, and the service call was years before Ivan became "Ivan!" It plays fast, and everything seems to work just fine. It does need a new set of rubbers, and minor cleaning, but the playfields are excellent, the backglass is perfect, the spinning disk in the backglass is perfect. Even the playfield glass is excellent. Overall, other than a few minor cabinet dings, the game is very nice. Original manual in the original envelope is here, but I am unsure if there is any other literature in the envelope. The game will need to go up stairs (wide) from a basement. Buyer should bring some muscle, hand truck, etc. The owner can assist, but the buyer needs to be knowledgeable in dismantling the game - head, connections, etc. The connectors all have original decals, so reassembling the game should be easy. The game is currently not set on FREEPLAY. The owners use a quarter to put credits on the game.

I have been a collector/buyer/seller/hobbyist for many years, but the early 80's games are a "black hole" for me. I am unaware if upgrades have been done to the "system," as are the owners. The game was purchased from Cricket Amusements in Allentown, PA, back when Cricket was a major player with games on location. I will only release contact information for the owners to those who use the telephone to call me. Game is located in Emmaus, PA - 50 miles north of Philadelphia and 10 minutes from the Allentown Show location. I will be unable to respond to emails or forum posts for a while as my laptop is headed for the shop today [phone number removed] No trade offers, please. Sellers are relocating, which is why they are selling the machine.

Wow...ridiculously good price on this game...based on the playfield condition, I think you're several hundred (plus) under value... this game is going to be snatched-up quickly!

Good on the seller for a great price!

Sorry about the change, but I am trying to do right by the owners and I have gotten several pms from pinball friends I respect, that I was originally asking too little for this game. Since I have had no concrete inquiries, I have changed the asking price to $1250/obo.

I won't change this again.

That still looks like a pretty good deal.

What was the original price before his email exploded?

I think like 1150...Still a very good deal and top seller....moving a BH is not a fun job so the point about muscle is well taken

I agree with billsfan... this is still a very good deal. Kudos to the seller!

Playfield looks great on this one! If you were closer I'd pick this one up and sell mine. BH remains one of the best bargains in Pinball. Seriously if a game was made today with 2 playfields, widebody, 6 flippers,6 pops, 4 drop target banks and interactive infinity backglass it would be $10k plus!

Agreed, Mike!

Wish you were in Australia. I'd love a Black hole but these don't come up often here. Good luck with the sale.

I'm sorry, but this is just hilarious when read at face value.

Umm yes, upon re-reading...well what can I say.

It's definitely in better than average condition. Nice example. Good price too.

Thanks to all who responded or called. The game sold to the first caller. He got a really nice example of this game, and the sellers are pleased.
