This machine was purchased, and lived it’s entire life in a family friend’s game room where his father brought it home and set it up new in 1981. We understand the game was purchased new at the C.A. Robinson showroom here in L.A. and brought directly into the family den where it lived until it moved homes with the family and reset into the new family room to stay from then on.

The machine is in overall excellent condition and is really rare to find a pinball machine of this vintage which was never routed or abused and this machine shows that off in spades. The game has very low use as you may expect and while does have a few flaws from 40 years shows, off extremely close to it’s just out of the box appearance in every way.

To preserve its heritage, I have gone through the game gently to remove dust, check operation, make minor fixes, adjusted, lightly clean and re-rubbered the playfield while keeping the game as original as possible.

Below are some of the condition details. I will try and be as specific as possible.

Cabinet Body: The cabinet is really stunning. Clean and solid inside and out with zero dirt, water, smoke or other damage. It has retained its bright and saturated colors and original sheen on the painted surface. The blues, whites and blacks all look as new with no fading. The wood cabinet and head panels have ZERO issues with splitting, delamination staining, water or otherwise. There are a few bumps and scrapes from moving and or general use decades ago though only on corners or edges primarily on the rear right lower side of the game and a small scrape just below the coin door. Back in the days of this games production manufacturers were also less concerned with cabinet perfection as the games were meant for location earning and abuse so some of this could have been imperfections at the factory(?) but we will assume not to be safe. There are no inflicted markings, drawings or etchings on the cabinet.

Boards, Electronics: All backbox boards and main cabinet PCB’s including the power driver, sound and aux. boards, etc. are original and in immaculate condition. All under playfield auxiliary boards, connections and components are original matching and in new condition with NO burn marks or wire harness repairs. All work perfectly and look like new. Some component part number sticker have fallen off as the glue has aged out but all are included with the game for re-adherence if desired.

Backbox Displays: All displays are original, functional and in vey good condition though the lower right display does show approx. 1/3rd of the display missing and does not fully light.

Backglass: Both front and rear back glasses are scratch-free. The top two score windows and their blue overlays are in perfect condition. The majority of the lower left display window (blue section) and a small amount of the lower right has the common bubbling found on this vintage game unfortunately.

The upper or “main” playfield is really one of a kind for its age with very little wear above the upper insert window as common and pop bumper areas. While these areas do show slight wear nothing has been touched up on this game in order to keep original and convey its lineage. The playfield has factory mylar and it looks as close to day-1 as you could hope with little-to-no noticeable marks or swirling and fantastic gloss. With the addition of a polishing process or clear coat this playfield would be off the charts. The non-mylared sections also show minimal wear and high-gloss levels for its vintage. The shooter lane/groove is near perfect.

Playfield Lower: Just as the upper this playfield is in fantastic condition, perhaps mint could be used here. As this playfield has a full factory mylar and gets less use during gameplay, it looks nearly brand new with no visible wear near the bumpers or anywhere else. The underside of the playfield is bright and fresh looking.

Playfield plastics: All playfield plastics both upper and lower are original and in excellent condition. The left side plastic on the upper playfield which is a very large, lengthy piece has a straight crack in it across the width just above the captive ball saucer (approx.. 3”) which has been bonded and primarily unnoticeable unless you look very closely.

Playfield Mechanisms: All mech’s have been inspected to ensure nothing is frozen, rusted, etc. Everything looks mint Flipper mechanisms have all been disassembled, cleaned and new coil sleeves installed. All mech’s are in fantastic operational condition and the game plays great all around. *Note - Lower playfield, left drop target assembly does not reset though does actuate mechanically. Have not identified cause.

This game is a true collector’s piece and likely the nicest example you will find.

Here is the full ad detail. The Pinside FS layout limits the word count so I had to truncate the ad. I'll try to put it all here.

Cabinet Head: The cabinet head unit is very near mint including the black surround. There is a slight patina from age on a couple of the metal backbox hinges though virtually none elsewhere. I believe it is the type of porous metal used for these. The hinges can be cleaned up or re-plated to look as new if desired.

Cabinet Interior: The interior of the cabinet body and head are crisp and clean with no dirt, burns or abnormalities otherwise. Extremely clean as you would expect on this game.

Cabinet Paper / interior: Covers, bits and details inside the game are all in excellent and original condition including the fiberboard divider just behind the coin box which is often-missing on these games.

Cabinet Hardware: All original cabinet hardware including side rails and lock bar have been wiped down with a light cleaner and looks virtually new. Coin door has been wiped down and looks like new both on the exterior and nothing done to the interior of the door. Insert the “you can eat off it” trope here. The Lock bar receiver has some small amount of discoloration at it’s ends though minimal. Cabinet legs were in “good” condition but had been painted white by the kids at some point so we have replaced them brand new OEM Gottlieb replacement legs and new leg levelers. The original steel metal coin box is in great condition and as you would expect for this machine.

Wire Harnesses: All wiring and connectors are original, clean and unrepaired. Every harness in the machine looks day 1 clean and new.

Backbox spinning disc feature: The disc motor mechanism works perfectly and “silently” and works as new which is rare and due to the low-play condition of this game. The plastic spinning “Black Hole” disc is flat, unbroken and unscratched.

Lamps: All GE incandescent lamps, playfield, general illumination and insert lamps operate and appear either original or of the same vintage (based on levels of dust observed) and base color, markings.

The special high voltage lower playfield illumination lamps (313’s) are all original, bright and operational.

Playfield: Only Novus 1 has been used to “dust-off” the surface, no polishing has been done to show the true condition and low use of this game.

The transparent blue acrylic playfield window is in very good condition with low signs of use. New, correct Gottlieb sponge spacers have been installed to get it level to the wood playfield surface. The playfield inserts all look new with no crazing and are completely level in all but one (lower rt. arrow) which is just slightly low. All playfield posts and plastic guides, pop bumper caps and flipper bats are original. I have replacement white ball guides I will include but we chose not to use them in order to retain originality. The underside of the playfield is bright and fresh looking.

The playfield display located under the blue center window is bright and perfect. The same goes for the apron displays.

Playfield drop targets: All targets are original and in perfect condition. No breaks or art missing.

Though we have both physical and verbal proof of the game’s purchase, lineage and ownership from the original owner like most thigs of this age the paperwork was long lost and forgotten. That said, we do not have the 40 year old receipt but the pictures and condition of this game show a state unlike anything other than it’s pristine history.

We have included a few items that we have for the game and its new owner as well as a brand new reproduction manual from Gottlieb (PBR) along with new replacement plastics mentioned above if the new owner chooses to install them.

This game is a true collector’s piece and likely the nicest example you will find.
