[FOR SALE] | 1992 Bally - The Addams Family - $6,000 firm
[[ LOCAL EAST COAST PICKUP ONLY / NO SHIPPING ]]

This TAF is a very nice example, 100% working. US Domestic machine from a non-smoking home. Stored in a house room not a basement for the past 10 years. It's certainly not perfect but is in excellent condition overall. Very clean inside and out. Freshly shopped/detailed and refurbished. Bright white rings used (no colored rings used to hide dirt). Must see in person to truly appreciate it.

I will do my best to provide as much detail as I can with the information and hi-res pictures. I encourage you to compare this machine to others currently/recently for sale. There are no errors when the machine is turned on. All tests pass. Flippers are strong. Comes with original owner's manual and TAF promotional keychain.

GAME PLAY:
Works 100%. Everything functions normally and properly. Plays smooth. All the correct solenoids are installed. All switches, optos and game mechanics work properly and have been maintained.

LIGHTING:
Works 100%. All flashers, lights, LEDs work properly. All tests pass. Some LEDs have been installed as part of MODs but the original lights are incandescent.

DISPLAY:
New DMD. No dead pixels. Bright and clear. Has a glare filter installed directly on the front of the DMD. Easily removable, your choice. Plastic is very clear and maintained inside and out with Novus 1/2.

PLAY FIELD:
No color fading. Excellent shape overall for an original play field. VERY clean. Some wear in high traffic areas (ball drop, swamp, mansion) but damage is minimal. The mansion wear it isn't bad at all for the age and does not impact game play. No magnet burn at all (magnet protectors installed). Plastic ramps are clear with no ball stains. No rust anywhere. Novus 2 and Carnuba Wax used exclusively.

CABINET:
No color fading. Never exposed to direct sunlight. Was formerly in service so there is some transport wear in the usual places but has been touched up. Play field glass is super clear and in excellent shape. The back glass is in excellent condition and is an original trans-lite/glass. Backbox side art is slightly damaged on both sides but difficult to notice. Cabinet side art is almost perfect on both sides. All cigarette smoke and years of grime removed from the sides, the cabinet feels very smooth to the touch. Most metal has also been polished and the black residue removed (mirror finish again). Front cabinet has a brand new coin door. Overall the cabinet condition is is at least very good condition but in my opinion can pass for excellent.

CLEAR ramp installed
Coin door / Interlock bracket
Kicker assembly w/bracket

Backglass holder

Edit. Nevermind... not worth it....

#3 5 years ago

“Collector quality” does not typically include any sort of insert wear, but hey what do I know?

#4 5 years ago

My apologies I incorrectly mentioned Collector quality based on some others ads I saw. I have updated the description to remove that.

#5 5 years ago

70,000 comedians out of a job and you're tryin to be one. Good luck.

#6 5 years ago

A couple of Hallmark ornaments with LEDs in them does not make an $8000 TAF....

#7 5 years ago

You realize someone showing up intending on an in person cash deal could be a scammer too? Not sure how you plan to sell with that paranoia.

Of all the FS threads to jump on, this one isn't so bad. I didn't see the thread when it had the game listed as CQ, so I get the blow-back there, but everything else seems fine IMO.

He took 54 photos, the game appears to be in fine shape and accurately described, the price might be a bit high but certainly not unreasonable, and the post was well-written and thought out.

There are sooooooooo many worse FS threads, so it seems odd to hammer this guy.

Just for the record, last night when this was posted OP had it listed at around $8500 and called it Collector Quality in the first paragraph. Thankfully that was corrected.

Ya, all he needs to do is add a color DMD and a playfield swap and he's right there

I want to thank you for your comments. My shoulders are broad and this is the internet after all. I actually appreciate the feedback and this is doing exactly as I would have hoped for it to which is to help me understand. Perhaps "tough love", but thanks for the information regardless. I'm not a bad person, I do not intend to mislead anyone (it doesn't matter what I say really, the pictures speak) and I am certainly adjusting appropriately.

As for last night, let's be honest.. I literally made a mistake about the definition of "collector's quality" and I certainly own up to that. I searched for the term and all I can find is different interpretations. I looked at another TAF called "collector's quality" and genuinely thought mine was comparable. I suspect that particular example wasn't collector's quality either and I took the bait. Someone mentioned that a perfect play-field would be required to be considered collector's quality. Thank you for that information, that's exactly what made me change it because I immediately realized.

Just to state for the record, when I submitted the ad I was literally making changes 1-2 MINUTES later, which was already too late to avoid getting jumped on. I simply made a mistake and I corrected it within a couple of minutes. Again, I am more thankful for the education. I sincerely apologize if my naive mistake regarding the quality and value was misjudged for the first several minutes of the ad.

I hope this machine can now be appreciated for what it is and my mistakes are no longer clouding that vision.

Well...I feel you handled this for sale ad very professionally and hope it doesn't put a bad taste in your mouth towards Pinside itself for the reactions that you got. If you look around at some of the recent ads you'll understand the bitterness some of us have towards sellers trying to overprice machines to "cash in" and it is slowly ruining the hobby. Best wishes in the future.

Thank you for your kind words. I have to admit, I made some mistakes also but nobody ever said an education was free

#16 5 years ago

I got $7k for one last week unshopped with same or worse wear. People hold on to Addams once they get them... doesn’t matter how many were made they will keep going up now that pf are around

#17 5 years ago

Yes especially now that they are over the 25 year old mark (are they now an antique or is that only for cars lol)... well they aren't getting any younger anyway. Thanks for the feedback. I think I have priced this quite fairly and haven't even put it on CL or anywhere else yet. Just leaving it out here for pinsiders first. No rush.

I just heard today that at one time Bally purchased Six Flags! That's pretty interesting history.... Would have NEVER guessed that one (good pub trivia I guess) lol

It's a very nice Addams at a good price. This will sell shortly I'm sure. GLWS.

#24 5 years ago

Too bad you won't ship

#25 5 years ago

Thanks for the feedback. You're not the first person to ask/mention shipping. I figure we should have an open discussion so I'll share my thoughts. I want to be flexible but I'm just concerned. If the issues can be worked around then I could be open to shipping..

(SIGHT UNSEEN) - IMO: I can take videos, take pictures but there's no substitute for seeing, touching, playing, testing and examining a machine in person. I don't think any picture or video can replace the human eye. I'd prefer for the new owner to spend some quality time with it first. I want them to feel confident with what they are purchasing. It's a lot of money. I guess in the end this risk is truly up to the buyer, not me...

(SHIPPING) - I understand there are people that will come, pack it all up and ship it away.. and many have "never had a problem"...Is there actually an affordable DOOR to DOOR solution here that doesn't add a ton to the TCO (IMO DOOR to DOOR would be mandatory, no hubs)? Are the chances good that it would survive the shipping journey without any damage of some kind? Big trucks are bumpy.. solder joints can crack easily.. I would feel horrible for the machine as well as the buyer if anything went wrong and couldn't be responsible. I would love to hear other's experiences with this (100 gallons of hot glue later lol).

(CA$H) - Payment.. I cannot accept anything other than cash. This one is straight forward. I'm not paranoid, I'm simply aware of what is needed to protect myself from scammers (people can reverse/dispute payments). I'm sure nobody is going to feel comfortable mailing me this much cash sight unseen, so there's the issue... it's pretty much an in-person transaction that would require travel, further adding to the buyer's TCO if they are beyond driving distance.

So I don't know, perhaps there's another spin on this... I'd love to make this more accessible outside the east coast for obvious reasons.
Thanks all!

#26 5 years ago

Cash only makes it a local transaction. Just curious but why would a secure bank wire transfer not be acceptable?

#27 5 years ago

If this has been posted, my apologies, but maybe help the OP consider other transaction types since this site fosters many each day:

That is an awesome post, thanks for sharing it! I knew what not to do in general but wow that's a level of detail above and beyond... It's a nice read too.. so yah, ca$h sale gets us beyond most of the issues... I also have cameras on my property which I think everyone should have these days (in addition to a dash cam).

Thanks for the feedback

Interested in trades? I have a HUO TSPP with a bunch of mods that is roughly your asking price. Maybe a little more.

I'm located in Burlington, Vermont.

#30 5 years ago

Thank you for the offer but I actually need the room so I wouldn't be interested in any trades.
