Very rare totally restored 1980 Gottlieb Torch, I'd venture to say this could be the finest Torch machine in the country, only 11 Torch machines have ever been sold on Pinside and none were restored. Stencils and decals are non-obtainum so I had to make my own stencils-cabinet was sanded down to bare wood and any defects corrected, the playfield is NOS and has 10 coats of clear, repo PF's are non-obtainum, all the plastics are NOS and again non-obtainum, the backglass is a new BGresto, new rubbers, new plastic posts, new legs/levelers/bolts/metal standoffs, Comet 2smd bulbs everywhere, new Pascal Flipp Pl-1 X4 all-in-one board which allows many features to be programmed, all PF parts tumbled and polished, most coils replaced, new pop bodies, refurbished the roto-target. I will consider all trades but looking for a Time Machine or SS projects, I can send you a video of it in play if desired. I will blanket/shrink wrap for your shipper and have the shipper further blanket/shrink wrap and send you photos of those or you can pick up in Hagerstown, Md.

Beautiful restoration, Tom. I love the rotating target wheel on this game. Very clever. This will make any Gottlieb collector very happy!

Really great looking game. I love when people do a high end restoration of a more obscure game and a good job (edited text)

Great work.

Great work.

What’s with the painted over dents in the head?
I guess thatS doing it RIGHT?

Nice game, but that Clear Coat doesn't look too clear ? looks like the insert has sunken also, maybe try levelling them before clears ? ide certainly own it: but i dont think its high end. glws

I wouldn't call it collector quality. Not sure I would have simply cleared over the inserts that needed leveling.

Where are you guys seeing these inserts with issues? I tried to zoom in on the pics and couldn’t see what you guys are talking about.

Right outlane; and the clear looks rough textured in that photo at least.

Some speckling on the front of the cab looks to be not just on the base coat. Speckling should be on the base coat: https://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2595&picno=38520

Overall it looks nice! No need to oversell it though.

I mean, it's better than not doing anything. I was mostly talking a bout someone going through the effort after securing NOS resources and making their own.

I wouldn't call it an HEP restoration but I'd call it a pretty good one.

I just want people to love SYS1 games like I do so a free bump could help.

Could that just be a weird reflection on that insert? The rest of the pf looks pretty good to my bad eyes. He should post another pic of that area.

Agreed.

i have 2 torches and can't bring myself to sell one. Its a under rated game that's imo a top 5 system 1 game . Very nice game indeed but needs a $5 shinny new decal on the coin door to finish your restore. GLWS

Game looks good, a lot of work went into it...
But...

Quoted from tomtest:

cabinet was sanded down to bare wood and any defects corrected

Normally I would not point this out, as my own restorations are less than perfect...however I would never advertise one as "CQ" and as such it deserves a bit more scrutiny

Theres quite a bit of bleed from the stencils also...

#15 2 years ago

Just because it's "Restored" doesn't make it desirable...

Not trying to dogpile, but don't forget, it is a friggin' Torch... didn't really set the pinball world on fire.

Since when is 3800 plus made rare

I feel like the "rare" was referring to the fact that nobody restores this game.
