For anyone interested, here is the procedure for removing the upper playfield.

Remove the two screws that hold the back plastic to the wooden back board.

Remove the nuts holding the large plastic on the left side on to gain access to this screw. Remove it.

Disconnect these three connectors from behind the back board.

Remove these two bolts.

Remove the rubber from the upper flipper.

Remove the diverter.

At this point you can work the playfield free. Be careful of the rear plastic as it will hang on the LED bulbs a little.

...and now for some unboxing Pinball porn...The game came unscathed and in perfect condition from Zach!!!. The paint and foil cabinet decals are insane. I also lucked out on the playfield lottery..No ribbing and perfect clearcoat. Easily the nicest playfield I have. I just unboxed it and set it up but have to install the mods now. Adding (Pinmonk Silent fan power supply, badge armor, Titan Neon silicone, Pinwoofer amp and external sub, speaker lights, and eventually some neon green and yellow plastics for the playfield and ramps, and Pinmonk coil fans.

does it bother any current LE owners that the T-molding is a slightly different green than the powder coat green? Kind of stands out to my eye, but I'll most likely not even notice or care, when I get mine.

Goofing around with some ideas. All green lines will eventually be strips that will be back lit. A switch will be located in the overhang and when the ball triggers it the towers will be lit up with an upward effect for a second. The red flasher will be located also at the base casting on the buildings.

Hey everyone, question. My Foo isn't connecting to my wifi. This isn't a 2.4ghz issue as my Deadpool and smart plugs under the pin all connect to the network. Has anyone replaced the crappy wifi adapter in their Spike system with another one with an antenna? Need to get this thing connected! Thanks.

Do you have to many devices on your network? Do you have the bandwidth? If your other game is in the same room and it connects, so should your new game.
If you dont have the bandwidth, DHCP might not be handing out anymore IP's.
Just a thought

#1571 1 year ago

It's a signal issue, DP also has a weak signal. The outlets require virtually no bandwidth. So I was thinking of adding new wifi adapters to the machines. I have plenty of space in my DHCP range, good call out on that though. I did double check!

If that's the case you could also go the wifi extender / mesh network / upgrade your router path. In our new house I was barely getting any signal in the far corner of the house opposite where the router was / would get 10-20mbps...had some $$ left on a wfh reimbursement plan with a previous employer and bought a TP Link AX10000 to replace the default router CenturyLink provided. Now can pull like 250-300mbps back here.

#1573 1 year ago

I would also check to see if your router can put out a 5ghz also. If it does, disable the 2.4 and try only the 5.0. But you are probably right, just need a better wifi adapter in the game. Also as stated blizz81 Id also try a different router/brand and/or a Mesh system. Ive had good success with the Google Mesh. Hope this helps. Lets us know what you find to work.

Looks like a lot of flex in that upper anti airball plastic that the ball is wedged on.

Game may need a thicker plastic there ?
Or adding a full size plastic protector could help.

Anyone making green ones for there ? Could be cool.

Wireform adjustment a little closer to overlord may help, if any adjustment available that is.

Was watching this video (

), and Joel @ ~21:40 is gum flapping about how much harder Rush is than FF (which kind of blew my mind). I just had a typical Rush game where I played for 5-10 minutes (which is really enough for me. I find both GZ and Rush to be very forgiving, kind/gentle games with pretty long bay times/saves. I've only owned FFLE for a few days now, but it's just punishing me. I'm curious, for those of you that have both, which game do you find easier? Rush or FF? Curious.

Try the option to reset the wifi adapter. And make sure you're entering the password correctly, I was messing up the caps when setting mine up

Since we are on the subject, my wifi on the foo fighters is monumentally shitty. I can connect, but the connection is terrible compared to other spike games I have/I've had.

#1581 1 year ago

I reseated the adapter after I did the latest code update this morning. It has a signal now, a very weak signal but at least it works. I will probably buy an extender even though all my other devices work fine around it.

It’s just a USB wifi dongle - you can replace it or try the other USB slot to see if that makes a difference.

5Ghz is faster, but is crappier at going through things like wood, plaster, glass, metal etc. So I would think 5Ghz would be worse since the Spike head is mostly metal and glass.

Could also be that there's a lot of interference on the channel(s) the 2.4Ghz is using, so taking the router channel selection off auto and trying manual channel settings (start with 6 and then 11) and then working from there might find a channel that works better.

This isn't specific to FF, but my shaker motor has already started having this low volume, but high pitch squeal when it is winding down slowly. I have tried 3 in1 oil, that helped for about half a game. Anyone know the trick to stop the annoying squeal??

I had a shaker motor squeak on a CGC shaker recently that I was able to solve by switching the polarity. Might be worth a try

Rush pro is far harder than the premium/LE, haven’t played FF premium/LE yet, but I think FF pro is comparable to Rush pro in difficulty.

The VUK on Rush premium to keep the mystery/add a ball lit at all times and a guaranteed safe feed makes the game much easier.

If your game times on Rush are close to Godzilla I’d move the outlane posts up a notch. My pros are in the middle (factory is all the way down) and it kicks my ass.

FF pro I’ve played has had very fair drains, mostly from bricked shots to the right orbit, the ball not making it all the way up the right ramp and bricked shots to the van/far left jump ramp.

it seems newer devices dont like 2.4ghz sometimes as its a band that is being overloaded. That was my thought and I was just trying to offer a solution without them having to buy new equipment.

Yeah, I get it, but he said his Deadpool worked. Same CPU board in it. However, the dongle may be different, I don't know. 5Ghz is great for speed, but it's not commonly understood that there are downsides of wall and barrier penetration with it, so I was just pointing out that moving to 5Ghz may make reception worse not better because it's in a metal and glass box.

My takeaway is a topper cam maybe for the Foo. Makes sense with the doves and shutter style eye that will take the player pic kinds of like G&R.

5ghz is faster but doesn’t travel as far. If you have poor coverage 2.4ghz will travel farther. Mesh systems can cover multi story homes can use wired or wireless connections between the units and work well up to 5-6k sq feet.

Kind of like all JJP since Dialed In. They've had cameras to take player pics for years, and it's well integrated into each theme. Dialed In is the weakest integration, but it was the first.

For my play style I think FF is the easier game. On FF most of the action is on the top half of the playfield which makes it easier to react to shots. on Rush you have the shot through the pops which is tight and pretty dangerous and you have more drop targets closer to the flippers. I think both Rush and FF are medium players. I think FF is less forgiving than GZ. probably more along the lines of Maiden if I had to rank it in terms of difficulty.

I disagree, I think dialed in has the best integration!

How is it better than PotC adding pirate hats and patches to the HS pics? GnR looking like a tour pass picture with Slash? Godfather's rap sheets showing your face on the file of all your misdeeds? Dialed In's integration is *okay*, but it's the weakest of all JJP theme integrations for the camera pictures. But that's no surprise - it was the first.

Interesting. The shot through the pops on Rush seems wider than KISS & TRON (2 of my favorites), which might explain why it seems easy by comparison (for me). Most of my Rush games are ~10 minutes (which I consider long)...a great game can be 20 minutes.

In terms of reacting to shots on FF...it's SO FAST at 7 degrees that my reaction time just isn't great. The left ramp is surprisingly difficult for me...wide open shot, but just not finding it (unless I stop and aim). Miss it and it drains pretty consistently. I'm more of an on-the-fly player, which might be my problem with this design.

I've been playing so much "Borg and Elwin" designs that feel familiar to me. It's all good...JD did an amazing job on this layout and it's challenging me (which is great). Almost out of the gate, GZ makes you feel like a superstar pinballer. FFLE for me makes me feel like a novice loser. I guess that means it's a good design

To me, all the other uses since then felt shoe horned in. A phone game taking selfies? Brilliant.

I've had enough time with The Shadow that I instantly started off my (brief to this point) Foo experience pretty much only backhanding the left ramp.

Interesting (thanks for the response). Didn't realize Rush Pro was more difficult...I have the LE and my Pro experience is pretty limited. The left van ramp just eats me alive. Looks like an easy shot, but it's not (for me, at least). I'm sure with enough play I'll dial it in...just surprised that after 50 plays I'm still messing up!

#116 is out of the box!

Such a masterpiece. Everything’s looking great on my game except for this loose plastic on the playfield and two screws floating around in the box. I can’t figure out where the plastic attaches.
The covers for the left and right ramp are in place.

And I just found a loose spacer in the cabinet. No idea where it goes.
