Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Foo is my favorite of the newer sterns (I have owned bond, jaws, and foo) and it’s the one I brought up to my apartment.
Don’t see it getting old. I’ve played hundreds of games on it.
Focus less on plowing through modes and more on setting up your upgrades to make the modes quicker and more profitable.
Bond I still have. But jaws I literally couldn’t get rid of fast enough. Not my cup of tea.

I was trying to pinpoint why I play Foo more than any other pin. I came up with it being unique in all the different ways you can boost a score of a city. The in lane targets added so much to this game shatzing for 2x/4x on a OL shot to close a city out. Also using mb’s to build up a mode prior, and during them is a welcomed change from others. Every person involved in this pin just killed it.

You can play the game with littel meta quests and it is fun for simply that... i was playing around the other day boosting scores... managed 308million on Austin...... not gonna be beating that in a hurry!

Yep. Whenever I have a fat mode jackpot I'm always trying to hit the shatz targets.

At Allentown I got over a billion on this game in qualifying, on tournament settings. You get good at what you practice!

(I should have picked Foo in finals, but I picked Bond, which everybody is good at now! Doh!)

I finally received my Foo topper but the plug for the power is being used by my speaker expression light kit. Is there a power splitter available that fits 2 of the below plug?

Beautiful job on the Van! That may be the motivation I needed to get a resin printer as the detail and smoothness of your print are incredible.

Quoted from Prof_gLX:

I just printed mine on an anycubic photon mono 2. First version looks like the van was totaled, but it was my second ever resin print.
This is before painting of course, and I'll have to fix the FF logo on the side door, but the details are amazing. I still need to clean it up a little but you're modeling skills are insane![quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Lermods has been able to provide custom splitters for me in the past

Thx for the mention. We don’t have any mods that utilize that plug so we don’t offer a splitter. Check with DugFreez as I think his speaker lights might use that plug.

#14059 61 days ago

Who sold you speaker light kits that use the plug intended for the topper? That's really weird and they should certainly have provided you the accessories, unless there was a "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OFFICIAL TOPPER" disclaimer.

No, I believe they need the plug that is for +48v on the power distribution board. Much like Lermods , I do not make a mod that uses that connection, so I do not sell a splitter for it either.

I believe allsportdvd will need to contact someone at NinjaCamp for a splitter for that connection. That is where your speaker lights are from, isn't it? Maybe Aniraf can help you out.

Doug (SpeakerLightKits.com)

UPDATE: I see they have this splitter listed on their Pinside Shop:

It's crazy how the pinball mod community can recognize other people's work and help get a solution for someone else's customer better than the actual manufacturers support their own products for their own customers.

From experience, it's impossible to patrol all the threads in pinside for potential issues related to something I sell. That's why tagging me, PinMonk (or whatever mod maker, like, in this case NinjaCamp's Aniraf [also, suggestion for aniraf ask robin to change his tag to @ninjacamp to make customer interaction easier]) pops the post up in my notifications so I have a chance of finding it. Some days there are a LOT of posts in my notifications, so it's not a guarantee, but it helps.

#14063 60 days ago

Yea my speaker lights came with the machine I bought so I'm not sure where they are from but yes they're plugged into where the topper goes. Thanks DugFreez I'll check that out, very helpful

Edit, @ninjacamp is on vacation until July 20 plus the time the splitter will take to get to Australia, guess I'm waiting about 5 weeks lol

I reread my original message, and it totally came out the wrong way. I was giving kudos to everyone in here making sure that someone was taken care of, as opposed to some of the support we get from Stern and such who provide a rather paltry amount of support for products in price ranges that typically command highly demanding support.

I'm still working on these....prototyping and supplier hunting is done (I hope). They have been installed in Led Zep, Rush and Foo in various configurations. Johnny Wick is next, but I need to look and see what its cabinet Expression lighting is doing. Now it's down to testing, install instruction making and listing them.

SUPER HIGH IMPACT Speaker Light Kits for Stern SPIKE 2 games with cabinet Expression Lighting. Really rolls off the tongue.

So many "industry firsts" and "orchestration" that you will want to puke. So much orchestration...there were so many technologies behind these: SMT, PCB, LED, SMD and many different types of plastics and polymers as well as good ol" American steel. It's some really high-tech stuff. You should take my word for it and be really impressed because I used a lot of acronyms back there. I think I have listened to this song loop too many times, and it has got me all hyped up........but so many "industry firsts" and so much "orchestration".

PS: It's going to be a lower price than anything else Expression and your existing Type 13 Speaker Light Kits from SpeakerLightKits.com can work as the inner part of the Super High Impact Kit.....and possibly even make your High Impact Kit (that would be added to it) a lower price. Who else does consumer friendly like that?

Looks great Doug! I just installed some of your deluxe (type 13) lights which always look great, this would make an awesome upgrade to that.

You'll see the work around resin is a whole other ballgame from FDM. Chemicals (VOCs, venting, dangerous for skin), environmental considerations (it's bad), even slicing is complicated. I had to scrap my first overlord because I know there is trapped liquid resin inside and it will burst one day.

I still have my final slices for Photon Mono 2, DM me if you ever need them.

You can get resin made out of soybeans. It works just as well as basic resin, is non-toxic and very low odor.
https://www.amazon.com/ANYCUBIC-Printer-Plant-Based-Precision-Printing/dp/B07YZ7F55V/

If you don't expect a direct hit from a ball, it may be fine. May have to bust out the super glue if it takes a rare hit. But if you expect it might get hit more, the newer ABS-like resin is probably what I'd use for pinball mods.

But anything is better than FDM. FDM mods look like garbage. Most people don't mind, apparently, as evident by all the junk mods you see in machines. Plus i assume most people are printing PLA, which is pretty brittle itself.

I need a replacement part for the hole cover in the play field near the trough. The metal cover that covers the hole where the up post would be on the premium or LE. Does anyone know where to source one. Contacted Stern and they said to contact my distributor and they did and stern quoted $297. Absolutely ludicrous for a 1/2" thin piece of metal.

That's crazy. Did they give you a part number? Maybe there was a part number mixup with the distributor asking for the wrong part number. You could have one made from scratch at a metal place for less than $100, probably closer to $50. $297 is nuts.

Yeah...resin looks great, but the workflow getting that pretty print can be a major PITA, and the bigger the printer, the bigger the pain.

Cleaning the vat, replacing FEP, replacing screens, slicing with supports that always end up failing or being overkill and reducing the quality of the finished surface, slicing your hand open with sharp spatulas trying to get stuck prints from the bed, cleaning prints before curing, staining clothes with drippy resin...so much work. I have an Epax x156 that I use to print all the armor except the helmet for a full Mandalorian (Din) costume, and while it looks great, I kinda hate it for all the trouble it was.

I was considering sending the van model to a service for MJF or SLS printing to avoid the mess of breaking out my resin printers again, which, given my luck would finally give me a good print only to have it shattered by an air ball.

I could model it up and likely have it shipped from Send Cut Send way cheaper than that. I need to get an update to my custom metal apron done and could likely get it for a couple bucks...maybe net $0 add if I can integrate it into one of the cutout sections of the apron.

If it helps I can create a 3d model of a static post with a base that you can screw in from the bottom. Like this:
pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png
Then your game will just look like a prem or le in that spot.
If anyone needs one I can post the stl so you can print/have printed (or for shipping i'll send ya one)

$0.30 cent part instead of $300

Part #535-2885-00 Playfield Hole Cover Flap

Had terry with pinballlife check on the price and it's $5 for that metal Playfield Hole Cover Flap. He can special order it for you.

Zero idea how your dist got $297. HAD to have messed up the part number when he asked Stern and got a quote for an assembly or something.

Yeah...unless you happen to have a lot of use cases for shim stock, $5 is worth it for the hassle of not having to source and cut your own.

I popped mine out last night and have an svg of it, but the scale isn't right for some reason. I measured it out as 0.25mm thick, which is thinner than anything you'll get from Send Cut Send. You can get a roll/sheet of it for $25-$50 plus shipping if you really want to cut your own, though.

#14084 55 days ago

It took a little shoehorning, but I have a new design that allows installing an awesome set of Alpine S2-S68 6x8-in speakers in Spike games. These things rock with no extra amplifier. Combined with the powered subwoofer it's amazing. I was able to incorporate some speaker lights and printed green trim rings. They look really good but not as cool as the ones Doug has prototyped above. The Alpine S-S57 also fit like a glove and sound amazing for a little bit less cost. I have no plans to sell these at this point, but just know that if you have a 3D printer or are good with metal or plastic working, it's definitely possible to fit speakers this big.

#14085 55 days ago
Quoted from rapidflipper:Since I've gotten so much interest, I went ahead the posted the STL file to the Printables site. That way I could give credit to the various model creators I remixed to make this. For lighting I plan to use the existing light board, and install gel-insert “windows” that light up the van from the inside.
https://www.printables.com/model/926352-foo-fighters-van-mod-for-stern-pinball-pro-model
This model could also make an amazing topper if scaled up in size. You could really do some cool things with RGB lighting at that scale.
Enjoy!
[quoted image]

Nothing but respect! Amazing work and awesome job making sure to credit each original model!

rapidflipper do you still have the clear bomb cover STL you modelled? I know you went with something else, but I could try to see the result it yields in clear resin if you do.

#14092 52 days ago

It’s too bad Stern doesn’t cut out the middle man on toppers. Just sell direct as I wouldn’t think there is many issues that come up with them. GZ/Jaws types $650, Foo types $1000, BK types $1250.

And if you cut out the middle man, you probably would have gotten it resolved faster! Not knocking Greg but most of the time they probably would rather you go directly to the guys who made it, who have the parts, who knows the product the best, instead of just being a go-between.
Sure the dealer had some obligation to help, but from a consumer it's really pointless.

Depends on what you mean by bouncing/vibrating. Like when the ball deadbounces do the flippers move downwards instead of being solid? If so it's likely the coilstops.

I agree, it's the coil stops. I just had this issue on my JP. Flippers bounce like trampolines. Coil stops were shot.
