Quoted from Kkoss24:

I would say a great start is plunge and let the game dictate your first ball but use that ball to progress with what it’s giving you. Upgrading the van, sonic radio, UFO hits, prepping A-51 and getting the OL ball trapped are all real important so go with what your feeling to start off. Just progress off the bat.

Also remember...hitting the captive ball lights the action button in different colors, which spots shots when you activate it. Try to wait until it is red then pound it! Also when you drain and an action button is lit, hit it before the ball goes in the trough for a few more points...or many.

I was just gonna post something like this. It’s a perfect game. Always exciting & always fun. It’s hard to play some of my other games after Foo…it almost makes me see them in a lesser light. I’m always thinking about whittling down my collection. Games like Foo will make that easier.

Foo is still my go to game in my collection, which is pretty rare this long after I bought it (right when released). Also, NY lady doesnt seem to have the valley girl accent any more (did an update come that I didn't notice?). Either way, pretty happy with the audio/call-outs now.

Quoted from Rarehero:

Nah, part of it is their own forced rarity and flippers selling out of production toppers for stupid money, and IMO they’re jacking up accessory prices to compensate for machine sales slowing down. However, the last thing a customer wants to do after seeing their $13k games drop $3k in value is spend another $2k plus on toppers and accessories. They should be sending LE buyers accessory “thank you” packages to keep them from abandoning NIB.

I doubt machine sales were substantially down when Foo topper came out, and even if they were, no way the minuscule sales volume would even make a dent in overall machine sales anyway.

And I dont buy that its a deliberate attempt at artificial scarcity. I just think they couldn’t be bothered up to this point. They didn’t have the resources to throw at developing and making more accessories so they just priced them according to the actual rarity. The scarcity came from the fact they only devoted limited resources to making the them in house. Just IMO of course.

Having said all that no question the accessories are too expensive if they ever want them to be a meaningful part of their business. Maybe they should look at licensing to some of the existing, high end mod makers.

Installed the Foobot topper today. Very cool and interactive with gameplay. Feels like it should be there to make the game complete. I was glad to find an adjustment to center the Foobot head as he was looking left after I initially installed him. Put up a quick 571M game just putting around not even trying first game after installing him. This game has such great flow and deep code, I don’t miss the pop bumpers at all. Have some other mods to install next, will need to find installation instructions. This game is bolted down in the Rock n Roll pinball Hall of Fame!

Foo topper came out a month or so ago. Venom has been a flop since last summer, and Stern/distribs had piles of NIB that weren’t moving at the time the Foo topper was announced.

I think you misunderstood. I’m talking about toppers like GB & BK that were $500 and under produced. Then people scalped them for thousands - Stern saw that and decided to make that the baseline MSRP for future toppers.

Possibly. It's all just speculation anyway. Regardless I have to admit, Foo is one of the better Stern toppers. Could do with a bit more code tho.

This game is lightning in a bottle. Very curious to see if Jack can follow it up.

Damn, this game is spectacular! I just had my best game ever and blew it up. Completed all cities except Seattle, I was so close. Not sure what came after that, but what a game. So much more fun after dark with all the pretty lights I also played with the sound settings and got the bass cranked up and lowered the music attenuation setting to -10. This time I remembered to sign into Insider Connected and was having a blast unlocking achievements! Foo LE is a forever keeper, no question about it! Probably the best flowing game I’ve ever played. That Overdrive ball save is fun, I was able to pull off a left flipper button save at least once. Also noticed the previous owner had installed green glow Titan rubbers. They sure do glow!

$4 mini LED strip from Titan works, too. That's what I'm using. I'm not sure how Lermods justifies charging $20 for a light.

Good one.
Have you done it? Any pics on where you connected it and how it looks?
I would rather share stl, or other easy cheap mods and better the hobby. I get people need to make a living. I sell pin glass covers. But I also have product and printing costs to cover.
But if there is a cheap easy mod available I'd rather share my idea.
Like cheap and easy colored light mod for iron maiden. I even shared stl 3d print files.
I'm currently trying working on a shaker motor for my whirlwind I'll share when I'm done.

Was looking into making my own FF topper based on the original design. These are what I approximate the costs to be. Granted it won’t tie into the game code and Foobot won’t move like the original:

- art design (plastics, 3d design Foobot) $250
- plastic pieces & printing $200
- Foobot 3d printing and painting $80
- metal base and accessories to attach plastic $50
- LED lighting and power connector $50

So total cost would be approximately $630 to make something similar to the existing topper. But without the functionality of the original. Granted the $250 for design would be a one time cost. You also have the option to improve on the original design by making your own topper. But again, it wouldn’t be as interactive as the original. Probably not worth the effort given the cost.

I'm already doing my own as well.
Acrylic print of foo van with led to light it.

Cost $100

The pic on the Titan site shows it with alligator clips attached and notes that they're 6.3V, so you basically just need to put a clip on either side of a GI bulb with the strip positioned wherever you want it.

1) Remove one fastener from the plastic
2) Rotate plastic to expose area to be lit
3) Feed the connector end of the LED wire through one of the openings to the underside of the playfield
4) Position the light however you want. You can just wad it up in there if you want or try to use the adhesive to affix it nicely.
5) Rotate the plastic back into place
6) Reattach the fastener
7) Get to the underside of the playfield
8) Attach alligator clips to either side of a GI bulb. Pulling the shrink tubing back makes this easier.
9) Attach the connectors from the alligator clip wire and the LED wire.
10) Let there be light

Quoted from HOOKED:

Though this would be the best place to drop some info on our first Foo LE Mod we are making.
We are awaiting install pictures but are pretty confident that the Lit side rail panels will be shipping in the famous pinball "2 weeks".
The first set was shipped to a friend of the company in AU and he will be providing the finished product pictures.
These install exactly like the Rick and Morty / Mando / Star Wars LE it rails we make.
When the panels are off they are the same color as the factory paper inserts.
On the glow greenish yellow - pictures will be added at launch.
Kit price $139.95 + shipping with this run of 100 sets.
If interested PM me with your email to invoice and country to be shipped to.
Once the install pictures arrive we will post directly to the site Hookedonpinball.com.
Next mod will be for the sling and out lanes that will be for all FF games and really make it pop.
Samples of lighting kits available with a link to install on the Star Wars LE panel page.

https://www.hookedonpinball.com/store/p229/Star-Wars-Mandalorian-LE-Pinball-Mod-Side-Rail-Kits.html#/

I had these on my Rick & Morty side rails and hinges and they looked amazing! Had another set on my Aerosmith and they made a loud humming noise like the sound in the short video. Not sure what causes that, but I ended up ripping them out of Aerosmith and tossing them in the trash out of frustration. Do these still make that humming/whining sound when lit up or has that been addressed? Interested, but definitely don't want them if they make noise.

I just developed a new 3d model for Overlord legs, and uploaded to Printables for free use. The replacement Overlord 3D model was taken down from the site, but I can share that as well if anyone needs it.

I'll post an update once I've painted them to match.

when i take the nut off it doesnt budge at all; ive spent 10 hours working and researching this;

i will try to lower the power again... thanks

it usually misses low and hits stand up target but sometimes hits captive ball..

oh and i can hit the scoop again just had a rough morning just hit it like 50 times in a row... the left ramp i meant

#13735 3 months ago

Tech experts on this issue when I loosen the nut on the ball guide, it is completely stuck. It does not move at all. It is so ridiculous.

Completely stuck does not move a millimeter in out it is supposed to

Underneath That hold the ball guide and it still wouldn’t move. It is literally stuck in one position. Does anyone know solution to this please thank you very much.

Stern sent me a video of how they just loosen the top nut and it moves back and forth
Mine is stuck like a rock

#13736 3 months ago

I figured out the issue now my auto launch is working a lot better. It was literally stuck and I need to apply superlube to it. I had to pull it really hard to get to loose like really hard so I solved myself even better. It moves now but it’s really hard to get it to move so I’ll apply some super lube in there to get it to move better

#13737 3 months ago

Got a replacement autolaunch from Stern, it still doesn't work worth a shit. Manual launch works 100% of the time.

Of all the many Stern autolaunch "fixes" and "adjustments" I've seen, probably the best was I believe somewhere in the AIQ owners thread where someone I believe added a few washers (and maybe swapped the coil out for something more powerful?) that took a good deal of slop out of the mech. I assume the mech is probably designed the same across Stern games so if you want to go digging that might be something to check out.

#13745 3 months ago

Same

#13746 3 months ago

I got it once, not sure how. I think the trick is to not collect weak-ass combos in the first place….you need your top three combos to already be starting at a deeper color closer to red.

Quoted from EtzEtz:

Yeah and I have had them at least dark purple and maybe even red pre-collection only to watch them vanish without being collected because I always think I can rip just one more spinner shot before I hit the overlord or UFO button to collect... and then everything resets due to my greed when I miss the overlord shot. So, now I rarely let the lights get past blue before I collect the combo.

Has anyone recently purchased or heard the latest on Foo’s Expression Lighting kit? Looking online I remain nervous to purchase from places I haven’t bought from before or heard much about and those that list it as available seem to just be distributors who would place an order that would sit in limbo with Stern…
