Foo Fighters has been my favorite band for 25 years and has been my dream theme since I got into pinball! The fact that they are making this pin now is a dream come true for me, so I'm thrilled to make a couple of mods for it!

The first is an Overlord shooter rod. I love the way he looks without a disguise so have been modeling his head for one. I'm very happy with how it came out! I also modeled one with the Mustache, but I'm not sure I will end up producing that one.

The next model I've been working on is a UFO / spaceship shooter rod.

Pre-order is now available on my website and Pinside.

Per usual, Rocket City Pinball is offering 3D Start Buttons! Available in any color -- any will look great since the cabinets are so colorful!

Here it is in traditional FF red:

Pinside_forum_7426012_0 (1) (resized).jpgPinside_forum_7426012_0 (1) (resized).jpg

Also just printed some in yellow per customer request so I'll post of pic of that one later.

Now in my shop: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1282-rocket-city-pinball/07901-3d-start-button-foo-fighters

Rocket City Pinball will also be offering hardware cleanup kits (like I did for Rush and James Bond) -- the silver hardware clashes with the decorative red/gold plastics ... gold hardware will look SOOO much better, so look for that in my shop as soon as I finalize the final count/config required.

Concentrate on the van and replacing the alien plastic with a toy and you'll have people backing out of buying premiums Tom !

We really are not a fan of the van for the premium either. This should be a cross model mod for us

I was talking to Joe at PinGraffix about it, he said he is working on some. Hopefully we can get some PowerBladez, too.

I'm ready to see the Stern shooter rod.

That saucer shooter rod would work well on Godzilla.

Would be awesome. Especially because a pro doesn’t/can’t get the expression lighting.

I am working on a lit bolt in UFO for the playfield - still have resin insert for the forward vents to go but close.

Finished the prototype of a resin sign sculpt for the right ramp based off of the decal art - thought the right side of the game looked bare. Reworked the model to have a better mounting system and slightly tilted so it's a better view from where you stand playing the game! Final one will be airbrushed so should be a lovely finish.

Anyone know what the scaling is on the Van?

Is it 1/25 or 1/32?

got a sample UFO getting professionally printed - you can adjust the bank angle to suit where you put it in a game.

also finished a drone bot with adjustable legs that can swing left and right

once I get the game will tweak mounting and some custom legs for the drone bot.

Picked up a Foo Fighters Pinball this last Friday and spent some time over the weekend doing CAD design work to build the Foo Fighters Tour Van! I should have prototypes done over the next few day and possibly work out what lighting and game interactions I have planned for this MOD.

Looks great so far! All comments and suggestions are appreciated, just let me know and I will do my best to answer.

Looking good! Planning on the bomb lighting up? Painting it? I have to say...the van on the Premium is disappointing.

Keep it as affordable as possible. Dont price yourself out of the market. That is not a criticism in any way. I followed the drama in the Bond thread with your dragon mod. As a business owner myself I can totally relate to pricing things to make it “worth your while.” That mod looks fantastic but it seemed priced out of most folks budget. And maybe you are 100% cool with that… just wanting the top end customers…

The van (and the Overlord Alien figure) is a mod that is just begging to be done for all the Pro owners. Whoever can produce those mods, that look great and are reasonably priced will sell a TON of these.

Some interactive lighting would look nice but not sure HOW interactive it really needs to be?

Anyway, best of luck with it, I will be following your progress!

I will more than likely use a vacuum table and use PETG for the glass. Definitely light it up!

I think everyone has been just a little disappointed with "some" of the mods that stern puts out. I want my pinballs to reflect my investment! GO big or go home!

Thanks! yah, there can be a bit of drama sometimes. My position is that there are plenty of places to buy cheap ok looking mods if that's what your into, I'm definitely NOT trying to carve a slot in that market, I would prefer making really great mods that I want in my machines and with this being a hobby I'm not concerned so much with the bottom line... QUALITY is what I'm interested in.

I do this to have fun!
Glad you like the Tour Van! I will be doing fitment for ALL versions!

Man this game looks like it's going to be fun
even though I don't have this game yet, I currently have 2 mods for this

button wear protectors/armor designed to look like the LE armor, but with the textured and color of the normal rails. no need to screw things is or remove the old rails.

and

snap on magnetic hinge art (goes right over the hinge bolt for easy centering, and covers the bolt)

I have a pro right now but my LE should be on its way soon! As far as scale, I’m shooting for the same size or slightly larger than the van in the Prem/LE.

Once I’m done it will be cover all models and I may put out 2-3 different versions, Pro Prem and LE.

Funny I literally made one an hour ago and posted in the Foo owners thread. I was thinking about maybe making the Transformers looking robot thing.

#36 1 year ago

Got my sample UFO and everything fits and will then paint up this week. I put it next to a playfield switch for a gauge of size and the resin will be lit with green leds.

Will be painted solid nylon, not a home print - am very happy with it so far.

Had a few hours this weekend and prototyped several features for the FF Tour Van! Lots more to come! This is going to look amazing in my LE once it arrives!!

The headlights are custom made abs rubber inserts into the grill to give it the look and feel of real headlights. Once the Van is painted and the interior parts installed you won’t see stray lights

this definitely isn’t the usual drill a hole, slap in an LED and call it a MOD.

CRCades, you planning to sell them? I'd suggest getting a clear resin and dying it red so you don't have to paint the base in the future.

That’s just testing fitment, I have an excess of gray at the moment from doing SW Death Stars.

I’ve got a few ideas but nothing firm yet. Right now I’m just having fun doing it and focusing on the lighting and a few ideas I’m working out. Once it’s in my machine and I’m happy with the results then I can consider pricing it. Another 7-10 days maybe.
