Quoted from Jazzbouche:Hey Guys…Together with Stumblor I’ve been working on an ‘upgraded’ Overlord mod. Here’s a tease on where we’re at.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
As well as all the usual integrated lightshows you’ve come to expect, there’s a couple of other interesting surprises that we’re working on that will hopefully have this mod punching well above its weight. Lot of training to do before he can get in the ring with the Foo, so stay tuned!
Are you planning for this to work as a replacement for the one on the Prem/LE, or just a replacement for the plastics on the Pro?
Quoted from zeldarioid:Are you planning for this to work as a replacement for the one on the Prem/LE, or just a replacement for the plastics on the Pro?
Both - the plan is that this will have added functionality to the version on the Premium/LE.
Quoted from noysboy:WIP - Foo Fighters Pro with blinky lights
Pretty neat, good sir. Well done.

Same. Please add me to any interest list if there is one. Thanks!

More insanely cool work Paul, this thing looks great!
Dave Shooter Rods are ready to ship!
This is the perfect finishing touch to your new Foo Fighters pinball machine! The head is 3D printed, then sanded and mounted onto a blank Stern compatible shooter rod. A metal washer has been epoxied to the back of the head to absorb the impact of the barrel spring. The heads are then primed, finish sanded and hand painted. Gloss clear coat is then applied to protect the finish.
Given the amount of paintwork needed I’m asking $100 shipped inside the continental US. If you live overseas, message me and we can work out shipping.
I have two available currently. If I get enough interest I will start a waitlist and these will be made in 5 rod batches.

Ohhh man… i thought the speaker mod that looks like the inside of the can would been in here… i want that one!!
Added 12 months ago:“Van” not “can”
picked up a FF pro and will be making mods for it. For sure doing something with area 51. Also may throw my hat in the ring on a overlord figure. Besides that I have some things I want to try that I need to test to make sure they will work out. Stay tuned

looks like there will be some choice for people:
stumblor is doing a building for the Premium / LE
wolfcub, myself and you doing something for the Pro
Anyone working on a van for the pro? That’s the last thing I need for mine before I consider it complete… unless I change my mind and decide to upgrade Area 51 when those mods come out
Never knew we had a mod specific thread.

Quoted from swinks:got a sample UFO getting professionally printed - you can adjust the bank angle to suit where you put it in a game.
also finished a drone bot with adjustable legs that can swing left and right
once I get the game will tweak mounting and some custom legs for the drone bot.

How are these coming along? Bursting with anticipation!
Any teaser pics?
Got my LE yesterday so was able to snap some pics of my completed shooter rods, available here on Pinside and also at https://flipmods.com

have been finishing off a batch of other mods this last week.
The Rev1's of the UFO and Tri-Bot have been posted here but still yet to do a paint up, sorry.
I will have my game in about 3 weeks to finialise mounting and then will be available.

All good my friend! Just passing time on a Friday avoiding any, you know, actual work. Wasting the day on Pinside seems to be the plan. Eager to see what you come up with.
I'd like to share my Foo Fighter brass shooter rod that will available at Pingraffix.com next week. Unfortunately I don't have a game to show it off on. This is the high polished version but I can also offer it just tumbled where you can see the grain of the grow. I'm also going to make a solid resin version painted red and gold.20230430_181931 (resized).jpg

Putting that in a clear epoxy resin sphere would look pretty hot.

Thanks, I was thinking transparent red with gold paint on the design areas.

Or make it even more complicated and two-stage it with a red epoxy resin up to the edge of the brass, filling the inside, then clear epoxy resin sphere encasing it all.

Hmmm, you've stumped me. The enclosed design doesn't allow for escapement when making a mold so the caster grows it in wax each time before its cast. I'm guessing if you stop the print and change the resin out with another color you can print 2 colors. If growing this all in resin I could stop the grow at the point where the globe of negative space begins, change to red resin to grow the globe but would have to go back in layers to finish the design around it. I wouldn't know how to incorporate the brass with the resin.

I have no actual experience doing this particular process (I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night, tho...), but I would think you could make the brass enclosure then have a silicone (?) mold made from a solid version of the item so it "hugs" the top of the brass enclosure, but leaves the inside hollow. Then fill with translucent red epoxy resin. Then remove the mold once the epoxy has set and put that in a "globe" mold that gives you x amount of extra diameter so you have a round shooter pull. Of course it's simple saying it. Doing it is probably very hard, but it would LOOK boss.
FlipsMods' Overlord model used on his shooter rods (https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1378-flipmods/07969-foo-fighters-overlord-shooter-rod) is flippin' awesome -- and so here we have an epic collaboration with FlipMods & Rocket City Pinball, bringing you Overlord coin reject buttons!
Several different base colors will match the various cabinet art designs, so take your pick from the eleven different color options at https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1282-rocket-city-pinball/08454-3d-coin-reject-buttons-foo-fighters
This picture shows yellow, red, and light blue:
Here's some more installed pics on an LE, including the yellow version of my 3D Start Button also:

Got my Pro fake expression lights installed. About $40. in parts. Still working on the config for the wled patterns.
Installed mirror blades, which really light things up...without being to much in your face.

Im going to write up some instructions soon. I also did this on my Rush Pro and it works well.
Its not a difficult mod, but takes some tinkering. Im sure stumblor could develop it into something plug-n-play if there is interest.

I think I might avoid any more forays into Stern's product catalogue for the time being.... keep my head down!!
Edit - awesome work though.

Is it just random colors? Surly it isn't what stern pumps out, color/show wise
... right?

We're still working on the mechanical aspects. Should have some more interesting news in the next few weeks!

It is extremely customizable with color palette and patterns. The LEDs are "sync'd" to the SOUNDS coming out of the speakers....so technically not just the music, but also the call outs. This isnt really noticeable unless you are in between songs.
IDK what Stern does, but I would not be surprised if they used similar fastled libraries in their code.
Dont get me wrong, my version is not as integrated as Stern's Expression system. But. Mine costs 1/10th the price (and obviously Stern's isnt even an option on Foo Pro.

Well I await hearing how you pulled this off. I'm sure you could sell many kits of this.
Im in on those lights. They look cool and expression lights will not be an option. My other two machines will have it. Zeppelin and Rush - I have been looking for lighting options for my Foo Pro so it doesnt look dark next to my other two pins.
Not a pin mod but looks great beside your FF. Also able to add custom lettering to the body of the guitar if you have an LE. PM for further details. Thanks.

The LE has all of these colors in the cabinet art so any one would work great.
Also, here's a look at the coin rejects in light blue, installed:

More pics to follow as the other colors make their way out there and get installed.
