I swore there was a recent topic on this but can't find it. Any recommendations besides Stern's overpriced foam mat? Thinking about getting some....

This might be bigger than you are looking for but Tractor Supply has a horse mat that is 4X6 for $39, or a smaller 3X4 utility mat for $20.
I have a couple of the larger ones in my shop, they work great over the concrete floor.

Have had these in my arcade for years, work great:

I used these on bare concrete, when I had my warehouse.

I got some kitchen mats years ago that work well. It doesn't look like they are available any more, but a number of options as others have identified.

I’d recommend global industrial website. They have a lot of options. There’s 3x2 for $29

Seconded on Titan mats. Best/most comfortable I’ve ever used.

If you want something a bit more discrete, I've found these mats on amazon to be comparable to Titan mats:

I use these... Guess I didn't realize how much they cost but they work great.

I've got the perfect mat. It's extra plush carpet and a thick pad underneath.
    Best thing ever!

Do NOT use the rubber "stall mats" from Tractor Supply. Your whole house will smell like rubber from the outgassing. It was so nauseating at my friends house, he had to drag them outside and leave them in the sun and rain for a month before he could bring them back inside. Even still they stink to this day.

    #15 4 years ago

Had a nice mat that I used until I had a Titan mat gifted to me. Will never use any other mat ever again. Not even a contest. Totally worth it, and I’m a cheapa... erm, frugal guy.

    #16 4 years ago

I use one of these for my office, pricing is in line with the Titan mats. This particular mat is fairly dense and it's actually most comfortable and supportive with bare feet. Think of it this way, if you stand on one of these mats in your shoes, it's your shoes that will be giving you fatigue with their relatively hard flat soles. If you stand on a cheap foam mat with your bare feet the less dense foam you will mostly sink through, but this mat supports your foot contours and is dense enough that you won't sink through... and it'll last a long time.

I also have a cheaper mat from Costco in my kitchen... they are good enough for the cost conscious, but not as good as this.

    #17 4 years ago

I have three of the Costco mats that I've had for years. They're still as firm as the day I bought them. Only downside is they don't fit beside each other if your pins are close to each other.

    #18 4 years ago

I purchased "Cadillac" mats from Uline. They will cut them to any length, which worked well for me because my machines are in a row. Super comfortable, no obnoxious smell, and very durable.

    #20 4 years ago

I was looking to take it to the the next level and add some heat, anybody know where to get them?

It's weird how certain products/rubbers stink worse then shit. We bought a couple of those indoor/outdoor 4x6 rugs from Costco. Wife said colors would look good in the kitchen. It took 2 days to air the house out after leaving them in the kitchen overnight. Left them out in the garage till we could return them.

@jeffz I'm sure those work awesome but they look like the the foam letter mats my kid crawled on as a baby.

These are what I use. They aren’t the softest, but they stay put a lot better than the others I’ve tried. They straight up stick to vinyl floor and don’t move much on commercial carpet either. The soft ones I tried moved around with every step and if always have to adjust em before playing annoyed the hell outta me! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-18-x-30-Comfort-D-Mat/205744569

I always use a mat when I play at home - primarily due to leg joint issues. I've seen Titan's mats on their website, and although I've been tempted to buy one, I've held off given their comparatively expensive price. They certainly look nice, but I'm genuinely interested in hearing what makes them worth the extra cost.

This is the mat that I've used for a couple of years now and it has been great so far and costs half as much:

    https://www.amazon.com/Sky-Fatigue-Standing-Perfect-Kitchens/dp/B00M122G/ref=sr_1_14_sspa

How long have you all had yours and how well are they holding up wear/tear-wise? What factors make Titan's mats worth twice as much to you?

Aside from any potential Buffalo Pinball sponsorship discounts (Kevin).

nice ones at home depot I just bought when working on games. $13

There’s an initial give, then firmness to it. Most other pads I tried were either a squishfest or relatively unforgiving. These seem to be able to be both at the same time.

That, and they don’t feel hot under my feet.

    #32 4 years ago

Titan (or somebody dealing for Titan at the show) had one of theirs out in an aisle at TPF (sneaky!) a few years back so I ended up walking over it. They’re amazing. Super thick, very cushioned. I just can’t justify the cost personally, because I’m cheap.

    #33 4 years ago

This is the best, hands down. Also available in many colors and sizes. I've tried many mats over the years, and nothing comes close. I've had mine for 2 years now, still look brand new, and comfortable as hell. Kangaroo anti-fatigue mats:

btw - I didn't try the premier $80 or more mat as that was what I was trying to avoid (ala overpriced Stern mat).

You can get opinions from everyone on what they like and why, but ultimately this is an experience decision. Anyone I've every talked to who has owned or even stepped on a Titan Pinmat has nothing but positive things to say about it. A combination of the perfect balance of firmness and softness, visual style, and durability all contribute to the quality and satisfaction with these mats.

Of course there are other good options, and those expressing other opinions are being sincere. However, the Titan mats are definitely a product where even though they may have a higher price, you cannot beat the value of what you get for the money.

    #36 4 years ago

I have several clients with the Titan mats. I have the HF ones. The Titan mat is firmer and more comfortable if you are going to be there for an hour or more. But any less and I don’t notice a real difference. Both do the job fine.

    #37 4 years ago

Have this one at work (standing desk), bought one for home in front of the sink too.

Nothing is like the Titan PinMat! Once you use one, it’s hard not to move it from pin to pin! My wife had me order many, many more! We now have over 20 of them and one is in the laundry room!

Old thread, but if you come across these on eBay, DO NOT BUY! ebay.com link: DeadPool Pinball Game Rug Mat Floor Door Home House Cotton Collectible

I got a couple because they were the only ones I could find with game graphics, but they are ridiculously thin and cheap. Obviously I should of known better, especially from the pic that lists a feature as “No, Carmen” but I just couldn’t resist. Just got them today and already returning....

This thread got me to order a couple of the Titan mats. They are like walking on a cloud of puppies.

    #43 3 years ago

I looked up this post yesterday after I saw the price on the Stern mats. Gotta say, the 20 dollar home depot mats are pretty comfortable! I'll probably get Titans someday, but right now with my 70's looking game room, remodel is the priority.

So I just recently purchased a "Pinmat" from Titan Pinball and can now provide a comparison to the anti-fatigue floor mat that I had previously been using while playing pinball.

    Old HemingWeigh brand mat:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D1YF2TA/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_6

Pros are price ($40 + tax & potential shipping), good comfort (3/4" thickness), size (39" x 20"), tapered edges, and available color choices.

Main con is durability. This mat has an outer layer which has constantly torn over time and as can be seen in this current photo, I've had to apply a lot of black duct tape as maintenance since purchasing it new three years ago. The comfortability factor of this mat has held up pretty well over time though.

    New Titan Pinball "Pinmat"
    https://www.titanpinball.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=144

Pros: Excellent comfort (1" thickness), size (36" x 24"), apparent more homogenous construction, color marking choices (including glow-in-the-dark which I purchased), and stylish striped tapered edges.
    Con: Price ($118 shipped)

new Titan Pinmat (resized).JPGnew Titan Pinmat (resized).JPG

    Bottom line:
I can now attest to the Titan "Pinmat" as being the higher quality mat out of the box - more comfortable, better looking, and hopefully, more durable. Time will tell yet on the last factor, but I'm anticipating that it will hold up better over the long run from the feel and look of the material(s) used.

Given the price difference between the two mats, your choice may vary, but at this point, I'm liking the Titan Pinmat's comfort and looks a whole lot and my (often achy) leg joints are not complaining about the additional comfort versus cost!

Just curious if anyone actually bought the stern ones? Comparison against titans?

If anyone has been on the fence regarding a Titan Pinmat, we now have these pocket kneeling pads that are made from the exact same material as the full-size Pinmats. It's a great way to try before you buy. On sale for $8!

Pinmats also can ship UPS now inside the US, bringing the domestic shipping cost down to around $20 or less for most of the US.

How did these hold up? While Titan's are definitely great (finally got to try one at TPF), I'm OCD and would need one for every machine. $500+ in mats is a big pill to swallow. I can get 5 of the Sky mats you linked for $100 total.

I am not sure on the difference between these two options though. Same dimensions, but different model name and one is half the price -

They are not the same size - one is 20X32, the other is 20X39. However, it is more than double the price for just a little over 20% more mat.

    #50 11 months ago

I can report that after more than 2 years of use, my Titan pinmat has held up very well and still feels great.

Having tried the cheaper alternatives as well (which don't hold up long-term), I am sold on Titan's mat. The comfort level is much better and the higher price is more than justified over the long run.
