I noticed the flourescent tube bulb in my TWD backbox was burned out , so I ordered the same number bulb from Amazon (F18T8CW: Lowes and Home Depot didn't have it). The replacement blew, also. I swapped the flourescent starter and bulb from my MET into TWD, and it blew that bulb as well. Any suggestions of what to look at next?

More than likely, its a bad ballast. ran into the same problem with an Atari Stunt Cycle recently.

got 3 sterns with bad ballast, notorious problem, can go to home depot/lowes and get new one for like $12

Thanks guys. My Home Depot and Lowes didn't have the ballast or anything equivelent. Ordered from Marco for $22 + shipping.

Just gotta love that Stern quality, or lack of.

I wouldn't blame Stern for this. They, like all manufacturers, can run into sub standard electrical components that fail prematurely.

I would replace it with led board. Easy to make your own.

Absolutely! Switch over to an LED lamp -- they do make them this short.

I have made my own led board for TSPP, with rgb behind the nuclear towers and white behind the characters. I think I have some strips left from the rolls. I'd like to make sure I get the flourescent problem fixed, then maybe I'll switch to an led board as a winter project.

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
