Hi

I just replaced the plastic bushing and installed a rebuild kit for my left flipper in Medieval Madness (thank you pinballlife.com!). Everything went fine, but I now notice that the solenoid, mounted as it is between the two metal brackets, has a millimeter or so of back-and-forth play between those brackets.

Should I worry about it? If so, how do I make it tight -- a shim or something?

Thanks,
Brian

Just make sure everything is in the correct order...if so, don't worry aboot it. There's a little wiggle room

Did you squeeze while tightening? Even after squeezing, some coils have a tiny bit of play some don't.

I did squeeze, so I am going to assume that reached the maximum tightness. I feel much better hearing that some looseness is normal. Thanks!

Not normal on MM, some other games, yes, but not on Fliptronic bases.

First, loosen the coil bracket (it has a big hole in it where the plunger runs through it). Then push it all the way towards the where the coil stop would be - tighten in this position.

Now test fit with coil stop in place - should be fixed.

If not:

1. Your coil stop might not be 90 degrees to the base. Check with a metal square and bend to exact 90 in a vise.

2. If still not fixed, elongate coil stop mounting holes with small rat tail file or dremel. It won't take much.

Double check your coil sleeve length too. If just a little off, it can prevent you from fully "squeezing" the coil tight between stop and coil bracket. In other words it's leading edge can get caught and bind. Happened to me a while back.
