03-7568 flipper bushing Achslager Williams Bally (resized).jpg

I was on the pinball life site and saw three different kits for Williams in the 90's. I was just a little confused on what was different about them. Is it just the part number Williams/Bally used during this time? pinball resource only has one kit for this time.

I know that one main difference is the length of the plunger. If you choose poorly, your IJ flippers wont extend as far as the original ones.

Call to be sure it is a little confusing .

Coil stop, not the plunger. The plunger is the same length. The coil stop varies.

I sent an email yesterday, he got back with me today. He said that all the flipper kits are different and I should order the one that is for my machine. Didn't want to push again for specifics, so figured I'd ask here.

Assuming if there is one, it's minimal. Still would like to know.

so your saying the coil stop is different?

I assumed the guy before meant the actual plunger not the flipper coil armature. Didn't know it was called a plunger also.

The plunger is the metal part that moves through the coil. The coil stop is the part at the end of the coil that the plunger slams into after being pulled into the coil, and stops the plunger from moving any further in through the coil.

Coil stop is shorter on the older games giving the flippers a longer stroke. Somewhere around 92 or 93 they went with a longer coil stop, giving a shorter stroke.

I think you want to check out the flipper bushing lengths too, some are longer than others and have those little triangle supports.

    I believe the pattern is:

Twilight Zone (WPC-DM) and earlier are shorter (A-12111)
Indiana Jones (WPC-DCS) and later are longer (A-12390)

I have encountered several machines already that had the wrong coil stops installed and those cheap soft metal pawls that come in the above mentioned kits that bend out of shape before you can get them tight.

Misunderstood question. Should never post when taking Vicodin.

that's actually really good info to know. thanks
any flipper kit I've been rebuilding has gotten the wpc-95 stops

man, I hope not. I'll do a bit of research through some manuals, to see if I can spot some different part numbers.

I know modern sterns are easily distinguishable from Williams.

Odin are there better quality kits available? I just got some from pinball life but haven't installed yet.

    #15 6 years ago

Yeah, I have found variations in quality. I usually go with PBresource on flipper kits, but with these 90s Williams you may have to specify which coil stop you need.
