So I just got a decent skyjump and I just finished shopping it. I ordered the rebuild kit from PRB, but the flipper still have tons of chatter and don't feel strong at all. I know people are divided on high tapping a game, but I even did that and it doesnt feel as strong as it should. Any ideas?

that game have eos switches on the flips? are they wired correctly? workin right?
if everything else is workin good, you shud not need to high tap the game.
double chk your work, got the correct coils in kit? was game doin that bad before the rebuild?
look for a switch on game over, or reset maybe? thats arching while the flips are chattering, maybe not gettin enuf power?

Check the cabinet switches also

By chattering, do you mean they chatter when you're trying to hold the flipper in the up position?

Flippers not having power makes me think they're not wired correctly. Once again, solenoid power goes to the solder tab with the thicker wire attached to it. Center tap (from the flipper buttons) goes to the solder tab with the smaller wire attached to it. Wires to the EOS switch go from the center solder tab and also from the center tap (thinner wire) tab. The EOS should open just as the plunger contacts the coil stop.

Make sure your flipper button switches are clean and adjusted well. Those tend to get pitted and dirty and can cause power issues also.

Are they incredibly weak? You probably have it wired wrong. Check for binding as well (the flippers are tight against the bushings).

And yes, I'd put it on hi tap. I do that on all my EMs, gives it just a little more speed all around.

Oh...I think I installed everything in the kit besides the EOS switches. So that may be why they feel weak. The flippers can make shots, but have a hard time getting past anything mid-playfield. I will look at the cabinet switches as well.

Yeah when I hold the flippers up. I know that its kind of unavoidable, but are there things I can do to minimize it?

I guess I should have been a little more specific. Not so weak that it feels like its on the low powered side, just not as strong as I'd like. I havent touched any of the wiring to the coils or EOS switches (which I realized I forgot before I made this thread) yet. I high tapped my big brave I use to own and really liked the difference.

Chattering flippers when held up is an indication of EOS switch issues.

Not an expert with flippers but on a 70's Gottlieb, regular coils, normal tap, flippers should easily flip ball to top arch. I have a game set at 5 degrees and balls easily get to top of playfield.

PBR sell the flipper button switches already made up.

Ok, so I just had similar fault on a game.

For me, the gap on the flipper switch ( 70's they are on side of cabinet from memory ) was too widely gapped. Ball only went half way up playfield. ( I caused the fault by cleaning the switch...... )

Anyway re-gapped and ball goes straight to top of playfield again.

Make sure your return springs are not too tight as well...

a quick way to tell if they are wired wrong is to hold open the EOS then hit the cab flipper switch. if they are stronger that would tell you they are wired wrong

I messed with this last night and both of them are very strong now. The right flipper is absolutely perfect with almost no buzzing or anything.

Describe how you "messed with it" please, so we know what you found out.
