Flipper fuse blows after minutes of gameplay.

Removed spark suppression cap in case it was shorting the EOS.
Verified EOS switch gap, it's 1/8" at full extension

Bad diode? Seems that would take out xsistor or fuse immediately, not after prolonged use.

Any other ideas?

No, I haven't.

I'll check coil resistance, diodes, and feel for coil warmth - I'm confident the EOS is opening up though. Then move to the BR.

I've already read the above link (Clay's guide), it hasn't helped me locate the problem this far.

BR seems unlikely since it's only happening to one if the flippers, and they source their DC voltage from the same BR though.

Will do, thanks Marc.

Wiring is fine, it's been playing great for 6-9 months, this is a new problem.

Coil resistance was fine, 4.4/260 Ohms for both left and right coils.

Jut in case the coup may be twitching during play, I put in a brand new coil. Still blows Ager holding flipper up for a while.

Verified EOS is working fine and looked and measured for shorts, nothing.

Yikes!

Yes, new coil diodes on the new flipper.

Turns out the flipper bushing was a bit loose, perhaps the EOS sometimes doesn't open when at full extension, will check that and report back.

I spoke with a local tech and they had this happen and it ended up being a broken wire, but I can't think of what broken wire would cause more current to be drawn, only less. Any thoughts on that?

Turns out the flipper bushing was a bit loose. So when the playfield was lowered, the crank was not always opening the EOS switch up, even though it was working fine when the playfield was raised. We tightened the flipper bushing, swapped the fuse, and no repeat of the issue.

Thanks everyone!
