The flippers on my 90's Bally/Williams pins like TZ feel tight and buttery smooth in every way (thwup, thwup, thwup). I love my Wizard of Oz but flippers feel and sound clunky in comparison (clank, clank, clank).

Experienced pinsiders, Is this because my WOZ is not dialed in or tuned properly or is it they way it just is?

I want my WOZ flippers to feel like my TZ - is this possible?

Thanks for any advice!

I don't see why not. Williams parts in both games flippers.

Only difference is your WOZ is 20 years newer.

Frankly I like the heaviness of WoZ and other new flippers better. Feels a lot more tactile to me. Though I think I'm in the minority.

Go and buy two new full flipper mechs from PBL, see if it fixes your problem

(I do have to agree though, I've never played a JJP game where the flippers felt as nice as any maintained WPC game, even fresh out of the box)

But I wonder why this is? My WOZ is HUO and if the mechs are the same it doesn't make sense.

Anyone else have some ideas?

I'd say your TZ is wore out and you're used to them like that. Maybe get new mechs for TZ and see if that makes it like WOZ. Or put TZ's mechs in WOZ.

Even though the hardware is the same, the control is different. WOZ does a pulsed control to vary flipper strength. I'm not positive, but I think that WPC is just solid on/off. Even if WPC is pulsed, it's not going to be exactly the same.

Pretty sure wpc is just on/off.

OP: maybe if you set your flipper strength to maximum it'll stop pulsing it and you'll get a better feel?
