Flipper coil diodes - 1 or 2?

So, my F-14 flipper coils all have 2 diodes each, going between the lugs. My PinBot coils have one diode that connects the outer lugs and skips the middle one. PinBot looks less tidy, like the coils didn't come that way. They've always worked OK, but should I add a diode to each coil or just let it be?

I just rebuilt my flippers using Vids guide. No mention is made about the specifics of different types of coils. I hate asking dumb questions...maybe we can figure out how to get Vid paid to write the authoritative "Pinball Maintenance & Repair for Dummies"...
