I've been fixing up a Flight 2000 for awhile and I am almost done but I have a reset issue going on which I believed to be caused by the drop target wiring. I think that because when some of the drop targets are activated at the same time the game will reset. Or if the drop targets are down from a previous game, and you press the start button, the game will restart as well. Most of the time it is caused by Drop targets numbered 3 and 5. Occasionally 1 will cause it to reset as well. I swapped out the diodes but that didn't fix it. I also went to replace the switches since the switches in it were not original. I could not find the switch number in the manual so I had to get something that looked similar but that is causing the same thing. I looked on all my usual parts suppliers and none of them knew what the "correct" switch was but Marco told me to order 180-5104-01 but not sure how to wire that one up since its a different style than the two other switches I have tried. Here is a picture of the first switches I have tried that didn't work and the one not screwed down is the newest switches that I need help wiring in to try.

I’m not sure you’re on the right track. According to the Pinwiki https://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bally/Stern#Reset_Circuit
you’re looking for something causing the 12v to drop. Is the drop bank causing the 12v to go low somehow? Is there a 12v test point on the board you can monitor with your meter while you test?

Really?

I thought that resets were caused only by 5vdc drops so I was watching that while it was resetting. Yeah there is a 12v test point, I will look at that more tomorrow.

Thanks for giving me a promising lead.

The game is resetting because you're getting a phantom Slam switch activation which is designed to reboot the game.

Draw the box linking those four related switches on the switch matrix. The phantom switch activation you get at the Slam switch is a short circuit error at the switch on the opposite corner of the box, in this case the drop target #3 switch.

Here's how to wire the switches. I don't see the fish paper separator between the swiping blade and the contact blade it's attached to. It means the switch will mechanically short to the drop target frame.

I appreciate the help and the diagram. I wired it in like you showed but unfortunately now I am getting no switch readings when the drop targets are dropped. I am adding photos just to make sure I didn't read you diagram wrong. The photo that you drew on might be backwards because I was holding the switch upside down in that photo, but I wired it directly to the lugs that you drew to, just upside down.

Oh, I also added fish paper in between the switch actuator and the first leaf switch with contacts.

Have you tested the diodes at the corners of the box drawn over the matrix diagram? So Start, slam, DT 3, DT 5.

Yeah before I messed with these switches, I replaced all those diodes

Not sure if this helps, but here are pics of my wiring setup, and it is working. Don’t ask me why, I didn’t do the wiring.

I GOT IT!

So the wiring that Quench told me does work. Why it wasn't working this afternoon when I tested it is I bent one of the female pins inside the drop target moles while I was testing continuity.

I got a few more things to sort out on this game but as of right now no more resets.

Translation please. A picture may be worth a thousand words here too... Thanks!
