First of, im sorry if the forum is wrong, i don't think it can called a restoration, but more of a resurrection.

I picked up this Stern Flight 2000 a few weeks back, the machine has spent the last few years in a garage, and needs a helping hand, but the playfield is the worst, its never going to be perfect, but i hope decent and playable.

Plan is to get the damage fixed up with some acrylic paint, and then cover it with a clearcoat (Spraymax 2K) to protect the playfield from more wear.

Im in the middle of stripping down the playfield, so it can be cleaned properly, a few pictures:

Following.
I have a F2K playfield that I’m planning on restoring this summer.

Playfield is stripped down, getting ready to clean it, and try and fix the paint.

Hopefully I spot both missing drop banks in the bottom of the cab. Looks like the 5 bank is there which would be the harder one to replace anyway.

Everything is there, only damage to playfield components are the two pieces of plastic next to the flippers, they are both missing a piece, but i am not so worried about that.

Mylar removed with freeze spray, only a little bit of damage to the paint, but since i (read my wife) will need to patch a few other marks its no big deal.

Will post a few pictures when its done.

Playfield patched up, its not perfect, but considering its the first time ever the wife has been painting on a playfield im very happy with the end result.

Its looks a ton better than it did, and with some clearcoat on top im sure its playable.

First picture is before, the rest is after.

Little bit more touch up, now almost ready for clear, need to mask lamp sockets, and spray the first few layers.

First two layers, now waiting until tomorrow, light sand with grit 1500, and then the rest of the clear.

Slight orange peel, but sanding will fix that.

Hats off to you for attempting this playfield. Its not an easy one to restore and sometimes you need to "re-interpret" what was originally on the playfield. You can consider repainting the sections and waterslide over numbers and letters.

And i thought mine was bad, compared to yours it was almost mint. Respect for saving that playfield, it looks fantastic, im going to be happy if mine turns out half that good !

Looks good! Did you end up using spray max?

I did, but i must say its a mixed pleasure, had two cans that started spluttering after about 50% use, not sure what went wrong there, when they do work it does lay down very nice and shiny.

A little bit of boredom while waiting for parts.

Still a few switches that needs adjusting, and some bad lamp sockets, but it looks like a machine again, and yes its missing displays, plan is LED.

Nice save.

I understand that you made the touch ups on bare playfield, and then clearcoated.
It would , imho , be safer if you first applied clear coat ,wet sand , touch up and then final clear coat.
That way the applied paint will not crack , or move or absorb moisture from the wood.
Time will tell .
Good luck with rest of the restoration .
