Does anyone have any tips on making the 3 bank sweepable? It doesn’t seem possible on my game.
It looks like others have had this problem, but never reported back.
I wonder if it’s aftermarket drops that are the issue(I’m not sure if mine are or aren’t), or alignment, or maybe even pitch of the game causing the ball to careen off the top target.
Any help would be appreciated
That helps a lot. I wonder if the flippers are supposed to be in that position? The flippers being down might put a little right spin on the ball that could assist in sweeping the drops.
I’ll check my lane guide too.
Quoted from brianmcculloh:Thanks, I will do when I get home! And which one is the power board?
I believe chuckwurt is talking about the the rectifier board.
I’d reseat all the connections before wiggling them. Since it started after you lifted the playfield there’s a chance one of the wires pulled a connector just enough to cause an intermittent issue
Thanks guys. It looks like I’m missing a nut under each of those cap screws.
Stern must’ve ordered those screws wrong or had a surplus of them. I can’t believe they would design it with 2 nuts and threads showing between them.
I’m having trouble with my drop mech getting out of alignment. Is there anything that is supposed to keep these in the channel? You can see that drop 3 has moved to the right and won’t function properly
It’s almost like that channel part of mech was put together backwards...

Does anyone know what the original spinner decals look like on F2K? Everyone seems to have different spinners in their game.
These are on mine. Any idea what game they are for? I really like the one on the left lock shot. It fits that color scheme perfectly

Doesn’t have to be nos or CPR. It could be, but I’m mainly looking for one that’s in decent shape for a decent price.
Quoted from fissionch1ps:chas10e thanks for the info. That answers all my questions. I found some coin mech distributors and some older ones on ebay as well. Your machine looks great by the way.
Another general question for you guys. The plastics in my machine are really good with the exception of the inlane guides. They're both missing portions by the post nearest the flipper. The game is still playable like this as long as the flippers are used to nudge the ball out.
I see that places sell the entire playfield plastics for about $200, which is more than I will pay for this. I haven't seen these pop up for sale separately. Does anyone know of a source to get these inlane plastics?
Short of that, does anyone know where I can get a high-res image of the playfield? I might try my hand at fabricating a pair of these.
Thanks
You could make clear ones easily out of Lexan. Sorry I can’t be if more help
I will most likely have one fabricated when I swap the playfield. But for now it is welded back together.
Luckily I have access to a weld shop and tool makers at work.
My flippers are set to the pins and I’ve never seen the ball jump the flipper. Do you have the flippers set to the pins, or parallel to the inlane?
Quoted from Winger03:Tremendous help from all, many thanks.
Rather than replace the entire power cord, I will put a new end on it. The current cord is actually 2 different ones spliced together - I guess to make it longer at some point. I'll undo the splice and inspect to make certain the first part is in good condition and replace with one of the ends recommended by Vid in his guide mentioned upthread.
I am having a ball-walker issue. Occasionally when shooting the first ball in, it does not advance to the correct place so that when the second ball is shot it kind of sits on top of the first ball. Sometimes that is corrected by shooting a 3rd ball up there . Ball 3 hits ball 2, bounces back t the playfield and then the ball-walker will indexes putting ball 1 and ball 2 in the right positions. Is it recommended to lubricate the moving parts of the ball-walker with 3-in-1 or powdered graphite? Electrically I think it is working, but mechanically is does not quite do what it needs to do from time to time.
Also, In trying to make the machine a little more "complete" there is no ball in the tilt mechanism track inside the cabinet. Is it just a regular game ball and I can stick an extra one there? I am assuming a 1 1/16", 80 gram ball is the correct one.
I still owe some photographs and will get to that this weekend.
Thanks in advance!

I would highly recommend just replacing the power cord. You can buy any extension cord and cutoff the female end to make a new one easily. If you don’t know where to solder it, I can post a step by step process with pictures.
Quoted from Winger03:I'm finally back with the promised photos. I'll have a few posts in a row.....
This is the inside where the power cord connects. Looks like a pretty straightforward match the colors with a replacement. Is that red disc piece something that needs replacing or does it look new? I think I read that a 16 gauge extension cord with one end cut off should do the trick.

You got it. The varistor looks good. If it is bad it would be burned up.

Pinball resource will probably have a replacement.
Quoted from ArcadeRaid:IThanks for the suggestions. I adjusted switch 34 and that seems to have fixed the faultyball. It wasn't showing as closed on the switch test all the time but was intermittent and that was causing the confusion.
New problem I'm working on now is the letter B inlane. It is acting backwards. When I start a game it is out instead of lit. When I roll over it, the light comes ON. This is opposite of what should happen. Also, rolling over it does not spot the "B" in the launch lane. It does advance bonus, make sound and award 3000 points.
Related, when I start a game the "L" at the top is also not lit. Rolling over it spots the L in the launch lane, scores 5000 points and triggers sound. The light does work in attract but does not display the backwards coming on like the B. It is just never lit during a game no matter what.
Weirdly, if I trigger the "L" switch at the beginning of the game it spots not only the "L" but ALSO the "B" in the launch lane.
If I then roll over the "B" switch the launch lane B is taken away and the light in the inlane turns ON as described above.
Ring any bells for anyone?
Is it possible there are multiple wiring issues?
If so; I’d start by verifying the correct B wires are pinned to the correct B lights on the lamp driver board. It sounds like they might be backwards.
The L never coming on during gameplay and spotting a B as well is interesting. What happens when you push the white square that spots a B up by the pops? I wonder if that could be tied into the L somehow.
This is what mine looks like. I have the bigger star post at the outlane. I believe that’s factory. It looks like ArcadeRaid used to have them there from the imprint on the playfield.
The Star washer at the flippers is something I’ve never seen before. Looks like Bulldozer flippers are gottlieb possibly? They aren’t the stern ones in any case. They should be flat on the top

Do you recommend some prep work for the surface. I looked at it again tofay and it looks like that there is no clear coat at all. As I can feel the insert edges.
I would check the inserts to see if they are glued in still. Just push lightly underneath and you’ll be able to tell if they pop out easily. I’m almost positive they’ll come right out. Check out vids playfield restoration thread for info on gluing them back in.
Quoted from Bulldozer:Many thanks! That is very nice of you.
I might need them if it turns out I need to sand down my inserts.
Are there relacement inserts for old Stern games should they break while I am at it?
Pm me if you need an insert. I received a lot of F2k inserts recently. If I have what you need I’ll send it out to you.
