The game will randomly register a ball drains when it is still in play. Any thoughts on why?

A switch that is on the same row or column as the outhole switch is likely has a bad diode, and when it closes, registers as the outhole. Look on the schematic for those switches, put the game in self-test and let all three balls kickout to the shooter-lane, and then put it in switch-test. At that point, when you hit one of the identified (same-row or -column) switches, you will hopefully identify which switch is mis-identifying as the outhole.

Actually, if it's a bad diode it's not likely to be on the same row or column at all. BUT, two other switches would need to be closed to cause the problem and one would be on the same row as the outhole and the other would be on the same column.

First thing I would check is the outhole switch itself. Make sure it's not gapped so close that vibration causes a closure.

Then, because it's a multiball game, I would record video until you're able to duplicate the problem. When it happens pause the video at that point and note where all balls are, which drop targets are down and what was the last switch hit that triggered the outhole switch.

Turned out Two of the trough switches were bad. I replaced them and all is well. Thanks for your input.
