Congrats! I love mine and play it almost daily. I joined the Flash club late last year. In any event, for the flipper upgrade that Vid covered.. post 140... https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/vids-guide-to-upgradingrebuilding-flippers/page/3

I am not sure if it is common, but it is done. I just rebuilt my flippers in the original style and I am super happy with the play... post 294 - REBUILDING 1967-1979 FLIPPERS
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/vids-guide-to-upgradingrebuilding-flippers/page/6

Honestly, one of the biggest changes to play was when I changed the inner and outer shooter springs... that turned it into a skill shot as now plunging all the way results in the ball not going through any of the top lane guides to score points and bonus, but rather following through the loop (since there is purposely no gate up there) and right back at you.

As for flipper bands - mine are red and I love them that way. In terms of the post colors, I prefer (and have) the blue (with blue #47 incandescent nearby them) .. this post has an interesting theory...post #35

I have owned my Flash since October 27, 2018. I installed a remote battery holder on November 7, 2018... last night I turned it on and it went into audit 04 00... so I check the remote batteries and sure enough.. one leaked! Less than 1 year! So if your batteries are still on the board, get them out of there.

Do you ever see the flash font out in the world?... literally just noticed this walking by the album and thought .. wait, I know that font.

Just replaced all the caps on the soundboard with one of those big daddy cap kits. Every went smoothly and it works great. However I noticed the sound is now more base-like and muffled. Any ideas why? My big 12,000 mfu was cracked and leaking which is why I did this so I figured I would replace all. I noticed that c10 old was a 33 40v and the big daddy was a 22 at 50v.

Update. Switched back c10 to the original 33 40v and sounds normal again vs Flash muffled underwater sound using the 22 50v that came in the kit. This guy was the culprit!

Quoted from mof:

that's how I have mine set up with the dipswitches -- quite an unsavory sound.

LOL! I kind of dig it as that is how I remember it as a kid. I also have the same exact sound on Time Warp. Maybe it is me, but after the sound hits the highest ear-piercing pitch, when it drops again, it sounds even lower than when the game started. Weird.

If you lose backup power, the default is for the background sound to be off, so one has to manually go to that setting to turn it on until you have your battery backup or nvram installed.

PS - I was digging your resto thread. Specifically your lighting of the kickout hole when lit. I may just borrow your idea - thanks man.

Quoted from guitarded:

OK.
Since nobody has pics to share, can anyone confirm the wiring on their slings for me?
On the Flash I am trying to finish up:
The Left Sling wiring comes from the Harness to the Tab on the Sligshot Switch with the Capacitor.
On the Right, however, the wiring is mirrored. Harness feeds the opposite switch without the Capacitor on it.
I am thinking that sometime in the past, it has been rewired incorrectly? I know someone changed out the coil, previously and the solder work is definitely not factory.

Here are some pics of my right and left slings.

The Flash hum is fairly common and there are threads about folks who removed ground wires, made other mods to help eliminate/reduce it, but yes it is there. That said, your does sound a bit louder. I made a quick video of mine.
