I recently acquired a Flash Gordon in France, with French speech. As I always preferred the original English speech, I bought two new U2 and U5 rom chips from here : http://www.ministryofpinball.com/en/flash-gordon-sound-rom-u2.html

As I half suspected, I get no sound at all when the new chips are installed, and the S&T led doesn't blink, it just stays lit. No issues with the French chips.

My French chips bare a sticker with 834-33 (for U2) and 834-34 (for U5) written on them, if it's of any interest.

I read something about jumpers, but I have no idea where they are located, and the manual isn't of any help.

Any suggestions ?

Quoted from Quench:

the model of EPROM chips that MinistryOfPinball supplied (2532 or 2732)

It's not on the chips and they didn't specify, but I can contact them.

Quoted from Quench:

and the French ROM model you currently have (2532 or 2732)

Not sure how to determine that ...

By looking closer at the S&T board, now knowing where the jumpers are, I can see that L was cut and K soldered later.
Since these seem to be the variable to play with on the matter on hand, should I try to cut K and put L back ?

All right, the French chips are 2532. The new ones are 2732.

Here's a pic of the jumpers on the S&T board :

The picture and instructions are very clear, and I had this figured out thanks to your previous link.
I'll get right on it when I find the time and report back. Thanks !

Success !

It's the dirtiest soldering job I've made, but it works so who cares ...

Emperor Ming now awaits !

What is FLASH in French?

It's FLASH, with a cheesy accent.
