I just joined the club. Shopping it out now. I'm having trouble understanding what they are saying in the game. Especially in attract mode. It say some one awaits. I would think it is Emperor Ming awaits but it doesn't sound like that. Does anyone know what it is saying? Also mine resets if it sits in attract mode for about an hour. I checked voltages and all are at good levels. I also watched the voltage while it was resetting and it stayed strong. Any ideas?

Quoted from epeabs:

After doing the cabinet, I pulled the transformer, power module, the mounting plate, Etc all out of the machine and cleaned everything up and repainted it. I reinstalled everything and just installed the playfield this afternoon and the back box panel light panel. Plug the machine in and turn it on, and I get absolutely nothing. I've checked every fuse in the machine, made sure all the connectors are connected. I have power all the way through the switch up to the connector right before the transformer. Any ideas?

Start at the wall. Is it plugged in? Do you have power at that outlet? Then check the main fuse with the black cap. Make sure the fuse is good and the cap is seated good. Then check to make sure you have power going into the transformer. Then verify you have power coming out of the transformer. Keep following the chain and see where the power stops. But start at the wall and make sure you are getting power there and then work your way down the chain.

I've been playing my newly acquired FG for awhile and have a few questions, I'd appreciate it if someone could enlighten me.
Sound Option (setting 18): do you use 00, 01, 02 or 03...chimes, chimes & background, noise w/o background or noise w/ background?
The voice callouts "Flash", "Emperor Ming Awaits" sound somewhat garbled/scratchy, is that common or normal?
When either of the 15 second clock timer lights are lit, does that mean that scoring is just multiplied, or are you supposed to hit something? Is there a difference between the two 15 second timers?
Thanks.
Robert

My callouts are somewhat garbled as well. I rebuilt my sound board but it didn't improve it any. I haven't had time to look any further into it.

For the 15 second clock the scoring is multiplied by either 2x or 3x depending on which is lit (left is 2x and right is 3x). If both are lit then it is multiplied by 5x.

Check the volume pots on the sound board and inside the coin door. Turn the knobs back and forth several times to break up any seized crud that might have worked itself in it over the years. Did you replace the pots on the board when you recapped it? My kit came with new pots.

My kit didn't have the pots. I turned them back and forth a few time before I rebuilt the board. I'll try and replace them. Thanks for the tip.

Quoted from zahner:

I have a question regarding an issue with my FG's Pinpoint Bally Flash Gordon AS-2518-62 Strobe Board. I have had issues with it with various MPU boards since I installed the strobe a couple of years ago. Initially, I had it set up with the original MPU, and it worked, but did some weird stuff. The game sometimes wouldn't immediately boot, and the voicing and some sound effects from the sound board would not always work properly [half finished phrasing, starting in the middle of phrasing, sounds dropping off or starting in odd spots]. I replaced that MPU with an older Alltek MPU, and it was dodgy too, but other than the sound being kind of wacked out, it seemed to work. With both MPUs, if the strobe was unplugged, the game functioned perfectly.
Well, the Alltek MPU went spuds up and the good folks at Alltek did me a solid and replaced the board with a brand new one for a very reasonable fee. When I installed it - it would not boot at all. The LED on the board just kept flashing over and over, but no boot/start. Double checked voltage, and it was all good [all boards except the sound board are Alltek]. I unplugged the Pinpoint Strobe Board, and everything worked flawlessly. I kind of went over this before with the Alltek people and the Pinpoint folks, but they could not figure it out. Given the fact that the strobe messed with both the Bally and Alltek MPUs, it seems the issue is with the strobe or the machine [switch or something?]
Thoughts?

I have one as well and when I have it plugged in my FG resets all the time. After doing some troubleshooting with them I sent it back and they checked it out in their FG and said it worked fine. They sent it back to me but I have not done any further troubleshooting. Without it plugged in my FG runs fine and has never reset. It is only when the Pinpoint strobe board is plugged in. I may get back to it at some point but interested in anything you find.
