Quoted from AUKraut:

Krylon Apple Red or Rustoleum Regal Red are what most restorations I've seen on here use for the cabinet. I used the Regal red. Some use gold, some use yellow, and the black is straightforward. Of course use some Pinball Pimp stencils for the paintwork. Do some searches on here, plenty of Flash Gordon restorations have been documented over the years.

I copied your idea of using clear inserts before installing my hard-top. I hope you are more flattered than offended if I have the armor done in gloss black, like you did. Your final restoration looks amazing!

My hartop is patiently waiting/hanging on my wall. My game is at my parents and I haven't been to their house since COVID... Can't wait!

Honestly, I have been hoping someone much smarter than me would re-invent the strobe using lower voltage and an LED.

My hard-top is done. I was putting off making rails because my game is by my parents and COVID concerns..., BUT looks like I can get started! bluebomber Thank you!

I need some help from the club. I did my first hardtop recently and moved everything from my old playfield to the new hard-top. I tumbled al the hardware and cleaned the harness. When re-populating, I decided not to run the bare wire ground and solder the new light sockets to it. I ran an insulated ground instead. All lights, switches and coils working with two exceptions:

1) The in-line drops. Drop 1-bonus... all good. Drop 2 - 2X lights... all good. Drop 3 - 3X light AND the extra ball lights. When the rear target is hit and the Xtra ball is supposed to light, it actually turns off as it was "ON" while hitting the 3rd drop.

Any thoughts?

2) The upper single drop tends to pulse a bit. Meaning it is "up" to start a ball, drops when ball enters play, but then should return up so it can be knocked down again, but it doesn't. I hear it sometimes trying to return up, but it doesn't.

Is that just a simple switch adjustment?

Here are a couple pics of the project. If any Pinsiders feel their project looked similar... its is. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery and I copied ideas from the best of you! Thank you for your indirect help. Sincerely.
