I had a FG in very similar condition and DID remove the mylar, with much success, a few very small areas were overly slightly damaged, but I touched up, and afterwards was very happy with the results and was glad I did it.

My flash Gordon has same playfield mylar as yours and I wont remove it.
Side note I've stopped using a heat gun as I found it gets to hot I prefer to use a good hair dryer on high setting.
I would be careful with the alcohol, it can discolor plastics. I prefer goo gone
