Going to freshen up a battle worn FG. Will be using a hardtop (first timer here), add new parts above pf, and repaint the cabinet.
Here is the patient.

I use a rotisserie, and the 2 level play field creates a bit of a problem. I screwed these strips of wood to help stabilize. Because I sure as hell dont want to strip the entire undersides to separate the 2.
Part of the allure of a hardtop is u can leave the stuff below in place.

Secure on the rotisserie.

About 4 hrs in, ready to remove mylar, rollovers, and start sanding.

Sanding done, will apply 3 or 4 coats of gloss clear lacquer to brighten up inserts

Got sidetracked.
Here is current state.
Drop target units getting new targets, not in place yet.
Have had prob with adding pics lately.
Cannot spin the image. New Android could be culprit.

Site no longer lets me spin pics.
And it seems to load upside down, or sideways.

#14 3 years ago

Powder coated parts are in, and looking good.
Even sideways.

Damn, that's sweet looking, Jerry. Those custom cab stencils really fit the game.

#21 3 years ago

Thanks. Pimp did these a few yrs ago for another pinsider. I loved them at the time, and was glad to hear that they are still available if you ask for them.
And the black powder is just killin it.
Should have pf back in tomorrow.

That’s the way Flash Gordon should be done, I saw once someone laser cut into the side rails and that looked cool. But your machine is looking great...

#23 3 years ago

Thx, this machine deserves so much better than the uninspired cabinet art it was given. Not the only one of the time, either.

I don't know, with fresh colors and powdered armor I kinda like the standard cabinet art. My backbox and cabinet came back together today:

Wow! Impressive! Automotive paint? Did you clear it as well? I redid a Flash Gordon cabinet years ago when I first got into the hobby. I plan on redoing it the proper way soon. I do regret not clearing it because the gold striping I used started to wear or fade unevenly.

Thanks....Rustoleum rattlecans in gloss, no clear.

Ready to plug it in.
One more sideways pic. I cant access the tools for some reason. They flash for half second, and go away. And this is only place they post sideways.

Wow, those custom stencils look awesome. I still remember when this game showed up at the local arcade. Yes, I'm getting old.
