John, I think you may have your function numbers mixed up?
As I understand it for the yellow roms which display as 0486 1 or 0486 2 the background sound setting is number 33.
For green roms which display as 1486 1 the background sound setting is number 31
in both cases it's 0 for OFF and 1 for ON. The default in both cases is OFF.
