Hey guys something off the topic of pins for a little bit. Just wondering how many of us fish or ice fish. Come post pics of catches, ice shacks, and post stories here.

My hobby other then pinball is fishing. I love getting out of the house and being in nature and silence away from the city. Here's a few pictures from a few weeks before Christmas when two friends of mine and myself drove down to Fort Peck resivoiur to catch some late season lake trout before freeze up.

Two weeks ago took my ice fishing shack out and had a short afternoon fish. Caught a couple jumbo perch, a small walleye and a 14lbs burbot.

Nice fish. I used to go a lot but took about a 6 year break due to just not enough time. Started getting back into this Fall. The fishing in TN really slows down to a crawl this time of year but I caught a few the last time I was out even though it was 31 degree outside. I'm looking forward to the spring crappy fishing.

Went to cabo this year and caught a bunch of Durado and a 248 Blue Marlin that unfortunately did not recover from the fight so it went to a couple of local restaurants. The fishing off the baja peninsula is incredible.

Ponds rarely freeze enough here for me to comfortably head out on the ice. We have done it in the past, though. I would always stay on shore and let my buddy go out with the auger to drill some test holes first. Caught some small bass/panfish.
I think I'm too much of a puss to do it anymore. I really don't want to fall through.

Warmer weather is more suitable for my fishing taste...

That's one fat striper. About 35lbs or so? They stock them in Old Hickory here in Tennessee which is my local lake. Biggest I have ever caught was around 23lbs but every year someone catches one over 40lbs. They put up a crazy fight on a bait caster.

52#. We get one or two 50's every spring. Too many 40+#'rs to count. . 30's don't get their pictures taken any more. lol.

The hotel that hosts Pintastic (Sturbridge, MA) is right next to a lake. Last year I caught a bunch of panfish only a few hundred feet from my hotel room. If you're attending this show then bring some gear.

Great idea for a thread. Here is my wife's 4lb smallie and a picture of my son with his first ever bass. He caught it during our little park fishing derby and took home second place. He still reminds me to this day that he got second place and i didn't catch anything.

I only went ice fishing once.

A church group included me and a few friends and two school buses of their kids for some winter fun.

We went to a city lake and they had a lodge ( food didn't show up, toilets overflowed ) a pond for skating ( melted to slush ) and a huge hill for sledding - glare ice. And we could fish.

We wondered onto the lake. I had a metal rod to chop a hole. I made a good hole and dropped the metal rod, I didn't know the leather strap was supposed to go around your wrist. We were wet, cold, and miserable.

Up on a cliff above the lake an old lady called to us, " boys, boys". We thought she needed help so we went up there. She was fine, she just offered to dry our clothes and make us hot chocolate when we were done fishing. We were done right then.

So sitting around in her deceased husbands bath robes, drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies. We were quite happy. Then we saw the people in charge loading the buses. So we sneaked down there and got on board. They noticed we were dry, well fed, and smiling. Unlike everybody else.

Sadly, that was the last time me and my two friends got invited to go with that group. I didn't care. It was still a great ice fishing trip !

This was a butterfly ray I caught a few years ago in OBX. It took me almost 50 minutes to land him. I could barely lift my arms when I was done. When he wanted to go, he went and would drag me down the beach like a rag doll.

I don't have any great pictures of him because we didn't want to keep him out of the water any longer than absolutely necessary.

If I remember correctly, he was 74" from tip to tip.

Grew up in North Dakota but never went ice fishing, not even once. Went for the first time yesterday and we limited out on 24 trout in an hour. My buddy told me I might as well stop there. haha!

In my college days, we used to spend new years at Deep Creek Lake. One night, after way too many beverages, we thought it would be fun to try ice fishing. Only thing we had to get through the ice was a road flare and a hammer. Took forever and by the time we made a hole, we decided just to go back to drinking.

Camera, vexilar, tip ups, rattle reels...and bonfires on the ice. Good times!

Just got back from Homer, Alaska where the wife and I got to do some halibut fishing. Ended up catching our limit of two each with my last one being around 40-50 lbs. There was a teenage girl on our charter that pulled one in at 106 lbs. Good times.

Someone, not on our boat, pulled in a good size salmon shark the same day.

Nice, there are some monsters in the nature preserve right down the street. Haven't hooked one yet... not sure I want to. I only catch & release and you're not allowed to release them in PA.

Went out and fished for some carp with my brother-in-law. Had a pretty decent day, the biggest was only 17.3 lbs but it was great to be on the river and fishing. I'll post a few pics here and some next week when I go smallmouth fishing in a creek I've fished since childhood.

We fished a number of years ago, Upper NW territories. Only ones on the lake. Fish in a barrel. Every cast was a pike or walleye. And it never really got dark. It was awesome.

We were in the middle of the lake fishing and the camp owner flies in, lands the float plane next to us and offloads a couple cases of Molson and a Sat phone, then took off. Good times.

Not a lot of activity here lately..

So here’s some recent ice fishing pics.
My shack, a good Walleye...then a pic of some guys who tried to get a cut of my action. There’s a whole lake out there, why camp next to me?! I guess they heard all the hootin and hollerin from the day before

Been ice fishing tons this winter. Been great.
Picked up a second hand Eskimo 949i pop up, and a new big buddy heater, and bought a new Strikemaster electric auger on boxing week sale.
I slid the massive walleye one in (wasn’t mine) but buddy and I were in his shack Friday eve, we both caught beauties

Nice!
Wisconsin State record was caught a mile down the road from me..but I’m lazy and don’t move around too much. 15,000 some lakes in WI!
We’ve been catching/cleaning/cooking out on the ice lately. Add in some cheap beer...and it’s a pretty good day.
