Looking for input on which game is better game play.

Feed back as to why it’s better is appreciated

#2 4 years ago

I prefer Junkyard has more of a variety and I like the theme more.

#3 4 years ago

Maybe it’s just me junk yard beautiful to look at but I never could get into it

Fish tales kicks ass

#4 4 years ago

I've had a hard time getting into either as far as gameplay, but they are both such great themes.

The kind of themes no company today would have the balls to release.

Junk Yard seemed a little heavy on the video modes, and Fish Tales with it's ramp right in the middle that is basically the same shot either side.

Fish Tales is the better game. Junk Yard is good, but it's a lot of stop and go, having to frequently choose junk, and it seems like you're ALWAYS playing a video mode. Otherwise, I do love the game. It fantastically creative.

But so is Fish Tales, and FT is the better game when it comes to pure, unadulterated pinball. I think whereas Junk Yard may start to get stale and repetitive (you'll start to memorize video mode patterns and junk combinations), FT will hold your interest far longer.

But as with anything: different people like different things. Despite the shortcomings of JY, I'd rather own it over FT, but that's because I like oddball games. Play them both and decide on what YOU like in a game.

Agree with Everyone....Junkyard lasted 6 years, Fish tales 13 years...

If you love the Best Video Modes from lots of other games, JY might have an edge.

#7 4 years ago

I've had/have both FT is still here and begs for another flip, junkyard is cool but got old really quick.

#8 4 years ago

FT > JY.
JY not having pop bumpers is it’s own down fall.

#9 4 years ago

Fish Tales will probably last longer in your collection.

#10 4 years ago

JY has some things going for it; it's a late W/B and has great art, sound, dots, theme, tough Oursler outlanes, the SJ is great etc.

Doesn't have the game play that FT does; simple as that, not even close.

Had junkyard under a year and have had my fish tales about 8 years. Finished junkyard a few times pretty early on, was too easy.

#12 4 years ago

Interesting a lot more love for FT and how it been keep in many collection.

Hopefully we can more votes to see if this holds true.

#13 4 years ago

Bump can we get it to 100 votes?

#14 4 years ago

Voted.

Really like JY, always have fun playing it, but if i were to buy one of the two, it would be FT for less video modes, more flow, fast action

#15 4 years ago

FT b/c of “monster fish!”

#16 4 years ago

Agree monster fish is sweet.

FT beating JY 4

#17 4 years ago

I like both but my fav of those two is junk yard.

#18 4 years ago

I think Fish Tales is probably the better pin.
That said, I would probably choose Junk Yard simply because I don’t know that many people that own them or places near me where I can play it.
Seems like there’s a lot more Fish Tales in the world and I get to play it often enough elsewhere. Not so much with Junk Yard.

#19 4 years ago

Only 14 more votes to make it 100.

#20 4 years ago

I like the theme on junkyard more but the gameplay on FT is way better.

#21 4 years ago

I like both but Fish Tales wins for me , it’s also my daughter’s favorite game .

#22 4 years ago

They are both fun games, but I agree with many of the other posters. Fish Tails has more staying power. Also, in my opinion, it’s also most fun.

#23 4 years ago

I own FT and have only played JY a few times so I am biased but I’m goin fishin (leave a message).

#24 4 years ago

They are about even to me. Both are good fun games.

#25 4 years ago

Fish Tales is amazing. I get a rush going for the super jackpot every time. I also really enjoy Monster Fish, Rock The Boat, and Feeding Frenzy.

#26 4 years ago

FT has so many ways to play. High scores are made through super jackpots. Steady scores are best through advance. Lots of humor.

#27 4 years ago

Great input, I was leaning towards FT, but was intrigued by JY.

FT @13K made
JY @3K made

Just need to find FT at reasonable price in Northeast.
Appreciate everyone input and voting.

I've owned both. Junkyard is long gone and I don't miss it, while Fish Tales isn't going anywhere. JY has the better toy, the crane is awesome. But the music and callouts are terrible. I'm not saying Chris Granner's midi banjo tunes are all that great either, but they are far better than JY. FT has more satisfying shots and as another poster said, you'll play a lot of video on JY. Pardon me, but I'd rather play pinball.

If you do get FT, watch for planking down by the outlanes and flippers and inspect the area around the pop bumpers carefully, I've seen more than a few games with bare wood showing in that area. Also make sure it has the fish topper.

JY is a very good game but FT is an All-Star.

Fish tales is a far better longer lasting game. Crazy that JY commands a little more money to this day.
