New to the SS world, Fish Tales is my first non-EM pin. I was having an intermittent reset issue where the game would power down and then restart. This would happen every couple of games.

I purchased and installed a Kahr board to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, it got worse, now the game was resetting almost on every ball played. Removing the Kahr board brought the issue back to when it first started.

Would the first place to start debugging this is checking what the 5V rail is measuring?

I think things are going to get more interesting. The game resets when the ball goes into the Fish Club and the vuk in there shoots it to the fishing reel. It has also reset when multiball starts and the balls are getting shot from the fishing reel back into play. It does also reset at random times.

I will check all the rail voltages first to see where they are.

I also read the wiki and will start working on the troubleshooting

A quick update, I checked all of the voltages. 5V on TP2 is measuring 4.987V. 12V on TP3 is at 11.7V. Line voltage is good too.

I then ran the coil tests multiple times on each coil, no resets.

I also cleaned and reseated all the connectors going into the MPU board.

The DMD had not been working great, the graphics would sometimes distort so I went ahead and cleaned & reseated those connectors.

Now the DMD works great and I just put about 15-20 games on the machine with no resets. Maybe it was the DMD connectors not being seated correctly.

Thanks everyone for the help, I wish I could pinpoint the root cause but that’s all I got so far.
