Working on my knocker problem yesterday... Looked down, reel rubber broken, insert sad trumpet noise, waw waw. Working fine night before. Could only find a few minor posts on this. Any good suggestions before I attempt this reel rubber? Only had Fish Tales 3 months, my newest game. Luckily, picked up reel rubber ring about a month ago when I got a few plastics.
I've upgraded to led's and Monster Fish mod, adding many mods to FT. Taken everyone's Ideas from pinside and incorporated them onto mine. Adding cork handled pole to that side too, as decoration. Also adding port/starboard lights on top of dome, came off old boat. Wiring this to port/starboard lanes on small play field.
Any Ideas and Tips before I start this later today would be greatly appreciated. Eric

If I remember right I tried to get to from the top and that didn't work.
You have to commit to pulling the whole mechanism out below the
Playfield.
But I may of done that to clean everything too.
Either way it's really not that hard.

Thanks, That's 2 votes for under field. Yours plus past post. Just took glass off and the rod plastic cover, looks like a keeper pin on wheel, slide out, pass down under field. Hoping not have to remove motor or mess with opto's. Will update throughout day to help future reel fixers. Pictures coming, Taking this opportunity to wax, my handy mini car vacuum clean, one broken plastic, check and see I got all the bulbs swapped to LED, making this a whole thing project. Wish I had that plastic protector for the forest plastic by reel.

Once the complete mech is out off the playfield, it's an easy fix.
I believe it's just a few bolts and maybe a plastic.

Ditto...you'll have to pull the whole mech and then some.

i had a fish tales, wasnt that hard to do. i also put a extra ring in there, and tied it off out of the way. next time it broke, just slip on the new one.

Interesting idea...but when mine broke, it was because the ring was so old, it just crumbled. Wouldn't the new replacement ring age there as well?
