I haven't had issues with fish tales re-setting since I got a rottendog driver board. Twice in the past two weeks, the game has shut down while I was playing it. The game just goes completely dark and does not re-set. After it goes dark, it will not power back on. When I turn it on, the game does the hum like it is about to turn on and then nothing else happens. The last time, I was able to get it to turn back on after a few hours. It happened again about 1/2 hour ago and it will not turn back on. Power board issue?

Test voltages coming into and out of the driver board. See if your 5VDC is stable and not too low, but you should document all of the points on the Rottendog and see where they measure since they are all grouped together for pretty simple testing. Then, trace the connections to the CPU and see if you have loss across connectors, etc.

Examine the female side of J101 on the driver board.
It's frequently tarnished/burned and may have been the predominant reason for the original resets.

General reset and power info can be found here...

Thanks for the responses. The led is out next to the 5 volt test point. My meter battery is dead and don't have a 9 volt around, but I'm guessing that means the driver board is not getting 5volts. If that is true, is it an issue with the power getting to the driver board or the 5 volt section of the driver board?

Fuses good?

Trouble shooting without the meter isn't productive.

Get the 9V battery, and then let us know what you measured!

Specifically, check F113. That's the logical 5V fuse. If it's out, no 5V, no LED, and the game will not boot.

You can't tell until you get your meter running.

F113 fuse is good and 0 voltage at 5 volt test

Pulled the fuse out of the holder and tested for continuity with it out of the game?

Yes I did take it out. I leaned on here that you can't test them while they are still in the board.

You may want to call Rottendog and see if they have ideas.

Also make sure you have between 120 and 122 volts from your power supply. That is where i would start.

(Edited out a bad idea with a simpler one)

Doesn't FT have a Z-Connector?

If so, reseat both ends & use a pusher on the wires.

If that fixes it temporarily, eliminate the connector by soldering the wires & heat-shrinking them.

I was thinking the exact same thing

Low voltage is entirely different than 0. Something else is going on than the usual suspects.
