Quoted from RTS:No resolution was listed, so thought I'd resurrect/hijack this thread as I'm having a similar issue with a dead reel and dead optos. Neither work at all during test. I'm getting 1.2v instead of 12v.
I checked the power from the power board J118-2 and got 14v (a little high.) 12v test point on the power board is accurately reading 12v. But still just 1.2v at the power connector on the EMI board and Opto board.
Coincidentally, random coils fire at boot up, usually/primarily starting at the catapult coil.
So, where exactly should I be looking at as the source of the problem? Is there a wire short under the playfield, or is there a problem on the opto or emi board? Could it be an issue with a diode at the catapult switch (tests okay in switch edge)?
Not really sure where to focus my attention. Can anyone provide a clear path to troubleshoot?
Seems like there is a problem on the playfield. If your voltages are OK on the power driver board, follow the wires from J118 to the optos and EMI board. Inspect associated wiring and boards for faults.
